One day I'm going to have to kill my parent's great Pyrenees. Super loyal, crazy smart....but has attracted every single dog it's ever met. Last time she attached one of my dogs I tried to break it's neck. I would've succeeded but she rolled with me as I twisted her neck. Next time it will be a 9mm hydrashock.

Not having Dobermans on this list is just crazy!

I've had dogs my entire life and by far my Akita is the best at protecting me and my family. She's also a shadow dog. I can't walk three feet away without her being right there. She's also a total love bug to us.

Buy an expensive dog. Or don't bother. Unless it's a charity whippet. But buy a cheaper cat. Don't overfeed it. It won't defend you. But it can bring you luck.

It makes me so frustrated and disgusted that a lot of these dog breeds end up on the list of vicious dogs because they're not vicious their protective if they didn't feel like whatever they thought they were supposed to protect was in danger most of the time they wouldn't attack anything right now the biggest Wonder pitbulls and they're just protective yeah they can be vicious just like any dog can be if you want to make it that way I'm 47 years old when I was growing up the way people treated dogs was a fed them biscuits with gunpowder in them and did all kind of mean s*** to him to make them mean yeah that'll keep somebody out of your yard including you you dummy but if you'll take that same dog and treated with kindness and love and respect Pettit care about it and something threatens you that dog will go all out and be willing to get its life and then situation for you I'm glad to see a lot of the world's learning that but not enough of it has yet

The most important thing that every dog lover knows is contrary to what you say here. All breeds are loyal and devoted to their family. Having said that, I must add that you have left out the most loyal breed who have been named velcro dog not without reason. That is Doberman. I have lived with German Shepherd, Labradors, Tibetan Mastiff, but Dobbies are the best according to my practical experience. My heart still aches because I lost my most precious baby a few years back!

The Belgian Shepherd, the Malinois. I compare every dog to them and have met none better.

I rescued a female GSD she was about 8 months old 57 pounds about 3 weeks later we were out for a walk there was this older man yelling & screaming in my direction as he came closer my dog Lexi started to growl & bark he kept his distance & left us alone that was 11 years ago Lexi is the best dog I ever had Period.

I’ve had two pit bulls and will agree with their ranking. I’ve also had a female Rottweiler and a male Doberman. They were loyal and all around great dogs too. When I watch videos like this, I have to remember that the video is only a person’s opinion. The better you treat the dog, the better is will treat you.

None of the comments I read mentioned the Malinois. But to put it bluntly, they are NOT for the average dog owner. Some of them are like a loaded weapon, ready to defend Mom or Dad with little provocation. Even without being trained, most of them will bite.

Kuvasz is a Hungarian dog, not Turkish. They're also not extremely loyal. They were used as guard dogs and worked alone or with other dogs. They're very independent and quite aggressive. This is what they were bred for. Obviously certain individuals can be better than others depending on their environment and their upbringing but they're generally not good pets.
