today my computer shown almost 2GB of memory consumption by firefox.
if i had the laptop of a decade ago which only had 2GB of memory it would freeze.
cluttering is not technologic improvement. if computers and telephones has become more powerful, the softwares should be ligher weight.
it's like they built a new garage, so everyone buys a second and third car to fill it.

I use Firefox vs Google Chrome because Chrome is trying to get rid of adblockers.

Firefox has profiles that other browsers don't have, and sync between my phone and PC.

I've used Firefox for mostly for many years. There's been times when I switched to Chromium for a few months due to issues. I would get video stuttering and pausing issues that would not resolve with restarting, all my settings were right for using acceleration, etc. I would then use Chromium for a few months, which I do not like how it handles many tabs. I would try Firefox again every few weeks, and once videos were working properly again, I would be back to Firefox full time.

Chromium based browsers are trash.

Every now and then I remember the fond times using Firefox. Then I wonder why they just kind of vanished. Makes sense with the explosion of open source software, and especially other privacy-oriented browsers. Over the last couple of years I've alternated between Tempest and Brave, so I'm not too concerned if Firefox kind of bites the dust entirely. Mozilla should have hunkered down with their primary claims instead of using them just to get users then not holding up. Maybe then they wouldn't be reliant upon their biggest competitor to keep them going.

Firefox went down hill when they change from having one application running, to having a dozen+ running for just one internet page open, using 1000-1500MB of RAM!!

It works for ch1t on YT. Been like that for over a year. Don't they have people for that? I guess you get what you don't pay for.

Firefox was my desktop default for over 10 years. I adopted it initially, not because it was open source or for privacy reasons but because it was way better in features and usability than anything else at the time.

I moved off it because its usability deteriorated to the point that Opera was better for me. Then Opera went backwards to the point where Vivaldi was a better option for me.

I was aware of certain political stances at Mozilla that I disagreed with, but they weren’t at the time decisive. Especially, as those views are pretty much shared by Big Tech anyway, and it’s impossible to avoid interacting with them.

Firefox for the win here. It’s my daily driver.

It's going to take off once Google bans ad blockers. The other variants will only be able to delay that change Google's making now.

I've used Firefox for over 20 years. Google's marketing is why so many people use Chrome.

Firefox will probably get a lot more users once Manifest v3 is out for Chromium based browsers.

i keep brave as a backup but mainly use librewolf. cant stand the crypto addons in brave but also will never use vanilla firefox again after their censorship comments

Google pays them. Google is the customer, not you. If they spent $500m on development, we'd have a very different outcome.

I wish that most Linux distros would not have Firefox as their sole/default browser. I think either they should not provide a browser, or ask you what you want and then download that and install it.

Used it from the beginning until recently, when they - with no opt-in and no communication and very low info gathering data and transmitting them to Ad-industry.

Firefox was great when it first came out and once it got popular with a lot of users, the big hacks found the ways to use it to get a lot of peoples info. That's what the internet has ALWAYS been about.

I am seriously into FOSS. But I do also think, that some level of "censorship" is okay. I do not want the voice shut down, of people that disagree with me. But I really do think that fact-checking and calling out fake news are important. Information and how it is used is a very powerful weapon, so it's also going to be used by malicious people.
Funny enough, you say, that nobody who takes FOSS seriously, would be against censorship. But then you mention, that many Projects are getting political in a way that I think you assume, that they're for censorship.
