Official 9 Wood Build - Will it stay in the golf bag?

I bought a 2nd hand 9 wood about 3 years ago, a bit of a drunken eBay bid when I was playing foursomes (alternate shots) and my playing partner an old boy who could only hit the ball about 150 yards.
Often I'd be playing from the rough as he'd not reached the fairway, the 9 wood allowed me to hit the ball a good distance rather than just have to chase it up with a 7 iron.
Since then it's been the best club in my bag, 230 full shots to gripping down in a bad lie from 180 upwards it's been a game changer.
The only issue is back wind you've got to be careful, I've had it out carry my 5 wood in the wind and go nowhere into wind.
It's a club I'd suggest everyone to try.

Too bad higher lofted woods are marketed toward “senior” players with them mainly only being offered with regular or senior flex shafts

High lofted woods are the best thing ever. The new models are super forgiving and has mind-blowing perfomance. I rather hit 9/10 almost perfect shots than 3/5 good ones, 1 bad, and 1 low non-stopping shot with my lower iron. I decided to buy a 9 wood, 7 (6 wood) and a 5 (4 wood) with x-stiff shafts.

Unless it's windy I play the 9 and 7 every chance I get. I can chase greens from pretty much everywhere and my hcp is now dropping to low single digits. As above, I can hit lower irons pretty decent but why bother? I'm not a tour pro. Unless it's windy I'm going to make this game as easy as possible and pick the higher lofted woods.

Driver, 3w, 7w, 9w, 5h, 6i to Pw, 52(12) bented 50* (+/-10 bounce as a result and did the same for my two others wedges), 56* (14) —-54* (12), 60* (12)—-58 (10)….@76 y/o, 15 handc, and happy as a pig rolling in the mud.
Hybrids for rescuers & low shots ( tough grass, bunkers windy …) & 7w, 9w for distance and higher shots, soft landings

I really struggle with my long irons. Anything after 7 iron to be honest. Should I be looking at hybrids or these types of woods?

I love my 4 hybrid but feel like I'm "supposed" to use long irons . 7 iron is 170 carry. 4 hybrid is 210. I have a 6, 5, 4 to fill that gab but prefer to try take some off my hybrid. Man, golf is hard!

Love my 9 wood. It’s my favourite club. You can hit it into any green out of any lie. I’ve used it out of fairway bunkers, long par 3’s. It’s my 205-210 club.

I got rid of my 9w, it flew too close on distance to my 7w and too far from my 6hy. Put a titleist 24° 5 hy in its place

The 9 wood is just not useful enough for regular golfers. Pro’s constantly switch up their bag based on course conditions. So, this is the category or interesting but not useful

9 wood lover here. It carries 197 for me and stops in 3 inches a lot of the time when I catch it on the center.

Don’t catch it on the center? 185 and rolls out 10 yards. See?

The more I use it the better I get with it. Monster approach machine.

I have a 7 & 9 wood. 6 is my lowest iron. 9 wood for me is money around 200yards

Had an M6 9 wood in my bag now for a couple of years and it's an absolute cheat code and soooo versatile, no way a 5 iron is ever being seen my bag again...

I talked smack forever reshafted a 9w i go driver 4w 7w 9w 5-pw and never looking back. Still pretty fast 80g s shaft on the 9w is money

I play a d,3w,5w,7w,9w, & heavenwood aka 11wood, then go 7i-PW,GW,SW,LW w iron covers, and use the bag boy rotator as my golf bag 🥸

I don’t believe that Tommy fleetwood is hitting the same 9 wood you can buy publicly. That thing has so much offset and sits so weird. He has to have a modified version

ive had a re-shafted sim max 9 wood in the bag for a few years now, and it is definitely is my most reliable club

no core 9 wood model this year? what the actual f? the max is waaaaay to big for a 1 wood

Im a 3hy and 5hy kinda guy for use out of the rough but I struggle with 5i and 4i . ( 3i for whatever reason is better than both 4/5) .

Will take a deeper dive into the higher woods

i found an almost new rbz 9 wood for 40 bucks. its incredible. im not getting that peak height with a long iron. the difference in effort and focus for a weekend golfer like me that is needed to fly this club 190 vs a 4 iron is night and day. no one should play a 4 iron, everyone should play a 9 wood.

Trottie the tinker is back! My 7 wood in the 35 is absolutely money ball flight and stopping but my question is im nkt good with a 3 wood except on the tee and the the driver is not enoigj if a problem and i hit my 5 wood almlst as far as my 3 but the new 7 got me thinking would carrying a 5,7 and 9 wood be too much? My 5 iron is ok but i donr see the height i think i can get out of a 9... could a 9 replace my 5 iron? The 7 wood has took my 4 iron place and im just thinking the 9 could take the 9...my only other option is getting the 4 wood and going 4 7 9 instead of 5 7 9 what do u think?

I've been using a 9 wood for years, a Regal 'Wild Thing' 28.5°, great club.

I would hit that up my left nostril. The heads look quite large on those, saw Scotty S was using a 7 wood on the TM X feed, it looked more like a 3 wood.

I love my 9 wood and wish I had an 11 wood rather than have to switch to my single hybrid. The more clubs that look the same, the better for me

Qi10 Max 5 wood was the best club in my bag last season, added the Qi10max 7 wood for the fall season and it was just majestic, effortless high trajectory and no hook problems I have with a 4 hybrid. Went to test the Qi35 Max 9w and it was great also, contemplating on ordering one.. What the hell, next season a 11 wood?! But these are weapons to the top end of the bag, so much easier to hit then long irons!

This is the video I have been waiting for, or so I thought. Very nice overview of the 9-wood and who might want to use it. By the way, Kudos if the 9-wood is your 5-iron. For me the 9-wood = 4-iron. Which leads me to the part 2 video that I really would love to see, namely …. 9-wood, vs 4-hybrid vs 4-utility iron vs 4-iron. I have one slot in the bag and need to choose wisely. I just swapped my 5 iron out for a 30* 6hybrid. Goes a couple yards longer carry than a 5 iron but much higher and softer. Idc if it makes me look old.

Love my 9 wood! Its a confidence building club when you're struggling. I have had it in my bag for 20 years if not longer. Also have a 7 wood that I love. I have trouble hitting 6 irons and below. These clubs make a difference.

I love my Stealth 2 7-wood. It’s one of my favorite clubs. I normally play my 7w around 225 pending on how the swing feels that day. I’m curious how a 9w would play now.

4 HCP here. I play 3 wood to 3/4/5 hybrid. Irons start at 6. 110MPH driver swing speed. Once you learn to hit hybrids 7/9 wood...its life changing

My 9w is 24° but it's an iron with 3 on it. Old lofts.

9 wood is a great club for someone like me: slow swing speed therefore low ball flight. The 9 wood goes higher into greens and from the tee on par 3s.
