got the chance to listen to this song live in 2014... it is just beautiful... although i am not listening to DT much nowadays as i moved to Berlin and got involved with techno, sometimes i can not help but listen to a couple of songs by DT and just appreciate it for the masterpieces they produced <3

Portnoy, Petrucci, Rudess are fine composers. Myung is a fine guitarist as Petrucci as. Myung is just copying Petrucci. Myung, Mangini, LaBrie are just performers... After Mike Portnoy, serious changes happened in Dream Theater sound. Portnoy was inreplaceble because of his musical vision. Everything is changed now. DT is another usual "Christian Band" now... What about the fans who doesn't believe any religious dogmas?

mangini has the most thankless job in music lol. I know MM plays the end of this song "his way" because it's simply impossible to emulate MP, but I feel like it shows MMs lack of understanding that last section. MP plays with feeling and u can feel the story being told in the song by how MP builds up that final stretch, whereas MM just plays a bunch of really technical polyrhythms that makes it feel like the rest of the band is playing "against" his drumming. with MP its the opposite and the band is playing with eachother and melding perfectly.
