THANK YOU for finally putting a vid on a topic that is way overdue. The only thing I looked at was Moz spam score (which doesnt mean much) and manually plowing thru the sites backlink profile. Will start reversing it and looking at their outgoing links.....great tips on how to spot a link farm that doesnt look like a link farm as well. Nice job as always guys!

what you showed is just 10%. I know more such things these link farm sites do to look legit. It will be great if you can cover other such stuff in some new video.

Other things to look for are:

Traffic value - Link farms try and rank for useless keywords, but those keywords hardly have much value

Indexed Pages Vs. Organic traffic - Low-quality sites will publish anything and everything but won't rank usually. And these people hardly give a damn about ranking the actual guest post.

Backlinks quality - So many giveaways here

Whois - Check for drops

As you said, all the pointers need to be used in combination, not standalone.

But if you just built a smart sheet, this could be done in less than a minute. Just prioritize your checks where you can find obvious footprints first.

I've noticed in ahrefs that some sites (especially some which already look a bit shady) don't show any linked domains for some recent period of time, usually the last year or two. I'm assuming this is because they started blocking the ahrefs crawler, probably to hide who they are recently linking to?
