im 40 and i'm finally at school and trying to get a career. all of my peers have bought houses and have careers and kids and i'm just barely surviving in minimum wage jobs finally at school because i've had no help in trying to survive my life.

I'm 24, older people will laugh at me but I feel like I've got no time. As if I'm finished from here, my only way out is suicide. I've lived with social anxiety and depression for over 5 years, I'm failing out of medical school and I'm not making any money. Talking to someone is impossible. I really feel the end coming. There's nothing for me here on.

Most of my friends went out of city for college, but I the topper of the class am stuck in the same city , I really feel worthless all the time , I have always dreamt of going out of city for college but it didn't happen for me .. I can just hope that everything will get better with time.

I can relate so much to this in my current situation.

I'm an accounting apprentice working to get qualified enough, to go self-employed, or earn money on the side.

For the past 2/3 months, I've been experiencing what feels like depression. I have very low self-esteem, have no faith in myself and my abilities sometimes, and feel insignificant.

In my social life, I've been feeling very conscious of how people interact with me, and sometimes I feel like people get on better when I'm not there.

I've also had to deal with changes, such as friends moving to uni, or moving on. It's been really hard, to be honest.

I don't feel very optimistic for my life at the moment, and I'm trying to find therapy or counselling to help cure my symptoms. It's been really tough.

Not really sure why I've vented, but just having a really low spell at the moment. Thanks for listening if you have, and if you can provide any advice, that would be appreciated.

Society standards are so unrealistic and messed most of the time. People aren't supposed to fit inside of society's moulds, moulds are supposed to shape and fit the people.

I am 21 years old exactly today. I don't have any achievements to celebrate, I just got rejected by a guy who seemed to like me and that just destabilized me even more mentally. I have no idea what to do with my life, what to study, what to pursue... Lately I've been thinking about suicide and it scares me so much!!! I don't want this for my life, I want to be happy, overcome my traumas and have a healthy life. But since I was 17 I've felt this way, and there goes 5 years thrown in the trash. I hope to return here one day well and with some solution to my problems.

I think the best thing to do for ourselves is to find professional help and learn how to be more compassionate towards ourselves.

If you didn't make it in your 20s, you can make it in your 30s, and if you didn't make it in your 30s you can make it in your 40s and if you didn't make it in your 40s you can make it in your 50s and just remember grandma Moses, she was a painter and she didn't start painting until in her 80s, and one of the most prolific painters. I wish my parents thought about my happiness instead of wanting the perfect prodigy child show off, in my case, everything I do is 'perfect' I'm at top nationals in every semester in University, I've worked since 16, bought Christmas gifts, bought my own clothes, my own food, entered the nationals of biology and math, I'm almost having my career completed, I'm studying a course in Harvard and might as well get there in a year, and even with all of my accomplishments I feel like shit, I feel like a failure, I feel so broken inside, my head hurts evertime I try to fix myself, I just don't feel like I am enough and I would give everything for my parents, not anyone but my parents, to tell me they are actually proud of me and want me to have a happy life instead of the life they've always wanted, I just feel like I'm taking on granted and I know I'm gifted and can change things for better, but man, I feel so alone, miserable and I don't think I want to continue guys, I've read some peoples comments here and they're such good souls, you're very lucky, I'm glad that people like you exist, gives hope
