ОтветитьHi Chris, Please tell us how to add audio to an RP high-quality camera and do video streaming
ОтветитьCan these cameras on the pi4 be set up for motion activation on wifi?
ОтветитьWhen will you be doing a Camera Module 3?
ОтветитьThe high quality version does force you to be a photographer. For example, using a smaller aperture (higher aperture number, a seeming paradox) would have given more depth of field. Presumably the camera software compensates by increasing the exposure time, which can bring problems with motion blur of the subject or camera shake from the floppy “tripod.”
The other cameras spare the photographer from thinking about such esoteric issues.
Bokeh != Shallow depth of field
ОтветитьI'm wondering if you could attach the high quality camera to a telescope for astrophotography.
ОтветитьI find your speaking style to be distracting. Specifically, the pauses. Sorry.
ОтветитьAmazing perspective, thank you~
ОтветитьThank for an excellent comparison of Pi cameras! Amazing - you can build a good 12Mp camera for under $200
ОтветитьDoes anyone know what the adapter for the zero is called
ОтветитьSo I would like to take 4 raspberry pi cameras and set them up with a pi or multiple pi's. And place those cameras in my 3D printer, an Epax x133. I would then like to do a 360° Time-lapse. As this kind of thing would take many hours of filming I need ro know if this Is possible and what software would I need if it is?
ОтветитьHello! thanks for this video, please I have a question, How can I change the zoom with HQ camera with 16mm lens ? because I have always the picture near.
Ответитьcompletely agree with your assessment of the quality of images: High Quality camera then ZeroCam then Camera v2.1. The HQ Camera lens makes a huge difference. It would be great if it were autofocus-able too. I would have also liked to see results with a much smaller aperture so that all of the image was sharp; but that would require the sensor's light sensitivity (ISO setting) to be increased, with the possible result of a more noisy image. Is that possible, I wonder.
ОтветитьI bought a very similar camera for the zero a while ago and a strongly recommended that you put a layer or two of heat-shrink on it the second you take it out of the box because you can’t replace the cable.
ОтветитьCan you please tell me whether the Zero Cam can record to an external USB HD @ 1080p 30fps on the Pi 0 (whether using the old or new version of Pi 0)?
ОтветитьThat was very interesting. Thank you.
ОтветитьI mean I can clearly see that the HQ camera has the best picture quality, but it is still shitty af. Is that due to uploading to YT or are there simply no even remotely good cameras available for the PI? Shouldn't there be cameras that at least provide a quality equal to phone cameras?
ОтветитьGreat video giving very interesting details on each camera module. Thanks a lot
Ответитьthe HQ cam seems interesting, might get myself one of those... I have a chinese glidecam for mobiles. It does the job very well, extremely even, but it can handle only that much weight. So a custom built HQ camera would actually be ideal. I guess the video framerate would heavily depend on the processor and its cooling, or how much ram would you need to actually capture 120 fps or 240 fps of 1080 footage? I know that you have to store them in ram but do you compress it before or how does it actually end up in a small form computer that doesn't weight much.
ОтветитьHi thanks for your amazing channel, Could you use the HD cam for long zoom session or it will overheat ?
ОтветитьIt might be fun to build a housing for the pi and the camera, along with some micro switches and special software to make a home made digital camera.
ОтветитьThank you Mr Barnatt,
ОтветитьThat ZeroCam is amazingly good. I wasn't expecting it to be that good. That's almost a steal at that price.
ОтветитьZero cam bettrer image than v2
Ответитьyour voice really annoyed my cat
ОтветитьHi Chris.
I work in the security industry, installing/servicing and maintaining intruder, fire and cctv systems. Do you have any plans to do a comparison video of a cctv set up (installed or provided by a reputable company) vs a DIY raspberry pi cctv system? Is there any apps available for a pi cctv system? And how would the pi camera image look on an DVR/NVR compared to the pi itself?
jupug
ОтветитьI use the HQ cam as a webcam. Works wonderfully.
ОтветитьThe zero camera seems to have better colours compared to the V2 cam, perhaps with the exception of the black, which really surprised me
ОтветитьHey, Chris. Great video. Watched all your videos about cameras and many others. Seems like ZeroCam is great for surveillance but what is best thing to power it. Is there a big difference between pi zero/pi 3A+/pi 4B if you use it for camera? There was video where it was mentioned that you can have much better fps with pi 3A+/pi 4B, while pi zero is unbearable to watch. What is your opinion on this?
ОтветитьGreat video, could you do a similar video about microphones and audio input options?
ОтветитьLove the Tardisz
ОтветитьTo measure camera performances you should use an accurate color and resolution charts. These are usually expensive for good reasons. Measuring with your eyes as a meter is pointless. Crayons, colorful boxes and toys wont give you any usable information, but subjective impressions. Also, it would be interesting to know who is the manufacturer of the sensors and what the sensor’s technology actually is, as there are very important details in there.
ОтветитьI love EC each videos 😚
ОтветитьFor general surveillance, the Zero Cam is obviously the most cost effective. Not impressed with the V2 at all.
The HQ would be the one for decent image capture and obviously the most versatile. But what would be the best
for long-distance imaging, such as aerial image/motion capture from a drone? Where the weight of a suitable lens system would
be crucial, depending upon the size and power of one's drone/RC aircraft.
Chris is the MASTER Time Nerd - the IT specialists of Gallifrey. Both Daleks and Cybermen, themselves consummate exponents of IT, tremble in his presence.
ОтветитьChris that a very impressive video. What is the real background colour? I expect you are using your normal video lights. How do these cameras behave when light are dimmed?
ОтветитьReally well performed test, and very interesting results with PiZero being actually a winner. Of course, HQ Cam gives beautiful results when it comes to bokeh or modifying field depth - but if we are using RPi, we wouldn't be using it as a high quality digital camera replacement since it would obviously fail miserably. Camera in RPi is usually used for some automation - like image analysis, object recognition or CCTV replacement - and PiZeroCam is unbeatable. Probably with RPiZero, since it would reduce the cost of full setup without affecting quality or usability. Actually, practicality of RPiZero+ZeroCam would be a killer feature - since cameras can't be put on long wires, and such a set would act as a remote unit (or one of many units) controlled by main full Raspberry Pi.
And kudos to you for the extremely British test scene 😁
I believe your video examples to be more entertaining than the last series of Dr Who. 😂
ОтветитьGreat comparison between the different cameras. I am a big fan of the HQ Camera but I guess that's due to what I use them for. One of my cameras I use as a microscope camera and it connects to the C-mount on my stereo microscope. Image quality and color are perfect and with a few simple python scripts on a Pi3 this is much more user-friendly than the original camera that came with the microscope.
I use 2 more of those as close-up camera's for training purposes to show close-ups on large (HDMI) screens in a classroom. I could do this with the ZeroCam or a v2 as well but with the larger lens the HQ camera gives me a way better control over the focus.
Please note that the lenses sold for the HQ camera have both focus and aperture control. With a smaller aperture the depth of focus gets larger. Unfortunately setting both is not as easy as with regular photo-camera lenses and you really have to read the manual to figure out what to do
Does this always have to be done through the terminal? This seems kind of a stupid way to take photos and videos. Isn't there any "normal" (you know, GUI based) software than can do photo and video capture but let's you see what the camera is seeing on the fly, even when idle?
Ответить20 seconds is a very long shutterspeed/exposure time
the resolution useally falls a bit with long exposure times because the momentums change, if for example there is not much of light the same pixel(or small area) is like to apear again, a other problem is that this pixel got a light ray from a different position
the close effect is a lamp the lamp actually emits a lot of light so its emmited pixels hit other pixels around and the pixels you want to see are overblown
that problem doesnt apear when the light is in s short exposure time eye to be said around 25 frames aka 1/25
really fast shutter speeds are over 1/125 at 1/2000 they might end then nothing moves and you got that motion blur problem anymore
a other problem i might see is that a compression was choosen jpg or generell compressions use many kind of tricks to get a similiar image
to do so i always took raw pictures and looked them up then when you zoom in you can see how the pixels really are
then you also can see that already at a iso 200 , the resolution shrunk by 50 %
the reason is simple 1/200 shutter speed gives the half pixels compared the same image at 1/100 according the exposure was set right (aka not over-exposed and not under exposed)
when i then gone through some tricks in photoshop the picture looked still very well only the dark contrasts had significant less details
correct is that everything in a picture is to see as light emitter
black means less, white means more, the others are somewhere in between
so a picture very often is full of different contrasts
so theretical you need more different shutter speed to get the right exposure for the objects you have in the picture
what those really are can be found out very simple useally a camera offers a shutter speed it wants to have
to do so you put something black so it fits to the entire sensor, and the camera should show a diffrent shutter speed for black then on white (some photografs use a gray card a black and white card would also be possible)
doing 2 pictures (or more pictures and fitting them together leads also to more pixels)
some cameras have that but special small sensors such as smartphones use that trick, because they got a small sensor and a small sensor means less dynamic range
Spy cams ... from what I hear they are popular in South Korea...
ОтветитьThis was rather interesting, thanks! I'm now tempted to get a Pi and the HQ camera and see about putting some of my Fuji X lenses in front of it, and see what I can make of it. The bokeh of the 16mm lens you used looks quite a bit like that of my Fuji 18–55mm.
ОтветитьCan the ribbon cable be converted into a USB type connection?
ОтветитьThe video cropping only happens when you record in 1080p (at least with the pre-HQ cameras) -- the other resolutions that are available use the full area of the sensor.
ОтветитьExcelente vídeo.. Wish you well
