Although I'll be honest, I was expecting you to also evaluate the Starter Collection as a product - the one that gives you 300+ singles for one price. Is that still in the works, or are you just going to evaluate the random packs this time around?

The fact that this set feels like a classic set is just another slap in the face that will be the 2025 set releases. Feels like a fitting funeral for the game.

Limited is good but I don't think they hit the standard base they were trying for, or at least not compared to what they've just put out recently, and as good as limited is, there are so many commander cards in the set like always which I thought they'd stay away from because this set was supposed to breath life into standard.

I know it's usually better to buy singles, but I wanted to open a booster box mainly for the nostalgic experience of opening packs and getting some good cards for my new and old decks in return. I am a returning player and I saw many cards that I have played more than 15 years ago. In comparison to the Duskmourn cards this was a huge improvement. The only thing I do not like is that there are so many different boxes and bundles and that you cannot get all cards from the standard play boosters. I don't like that concept.

I should've known they'd only bring back MSRP specifically to raise prices

that there are some keywordless creature cards in Foundations brings warmth to my heart.

Foundations is brilliant, its made me feel like I can get back into standard and not have to keep up with the constant rush.

I havent felt this way about magic since I first got into it. I had a huge hit of how i use to feel about cards when I pulled a "fleeting distraction"

1 blue instant - target creature gets -1/0 till eot. Draw a card. Its not a powerful one bit, BUT it is so rich in flavour that i got pulled into the world of mtg.

The flavour text is "the first spell taugjt to young mages, it has spared the lives of many whose hands are two small to hold a sword" and its photo is a beast distracted by some blue ghostly butterflies.

The fact is cheep to cast, doesnt do damage all tie into it being cast by a new mage AND the fact that it draws a card feeds into its story of a mage trying to buy more time. I look at this card and I feel like a kid again.

The biggest flavour win is that its most likly to be played by new players.

I'm wondering if this set is worth building a set cube for, particularly as you sang high praises about the limited environment for it. I will be buying a box anyway just to hopefully send the message to Wizards that their own IP is profitable and they don't need to rely so heavily on Universes Beyond to sell packs.

I plan on going to a magic the gathering convention with a jar of Vicks Vapor rub and a car air freshener around my nose so I don't have to smell all the people there. They will probably get offended but hey their the ones that smell like an anchovies cunt because their sweaty armpits haven't interacted with a shower head in over a month or more...Yet I'll probably be the one that has to leave because I'm being rude, when all I wanna do is NOT SMELL THEM.

Target has already upped these MSRP prices... ugh

These pull rates and chances remind me of the goofy chart they released for Phyrexia All Will Be One regarding which card treatments can be pulled out of which packs. And not in a good way either

This set brought me back after I was fed up with the gimmicks and worlds beyond. Finally, Magic as it was intended.

New player here, just got back from a prerelease event and I pulled : 2X doubling season (one was a promo) and a bloodthirsty conqueror (which is one of my favourite cards of the set I think)
I and everyone there was pretty hyped..

By the way I still got my ass whooped by all the veteran players but boy was it fun to play those cards.. actually thinking buying more pack now.. 😅

If you are only playing Magic to play, then just go to a card shop that puts together competitive decks for 50 bucks. There, I just saved you thousands of dollars.

Sorry need to disagree with the limited ; there is a large amount of variance. The rares are more gaming winning than normal due to the powercreep we have seen.

At least they got rid of those awful ads cards, good riddance.

Oh I get it now. Drop a Marvel secret lair to pull new nerds in to the game and then make a set immediately after that release to make it easy for new players to get started. Very smart wizards.

It is always worth it to buy boosters, because opening packs and building a deck that is uniquely yours from your collection is how TCGs should be played.

No. The answer is no. I've gone to multiple LGS in my surrounding area and every single store owner is literally sweating from their brow no not just because they're fat. Because NO ONE IS BUYING THIS.
