apprently microsoft has a contract with energizer or duracell not sure which company batteries i think for like 10 years a long time basically that is why there controllers still use batteries but i dont mind buying them or getting rechargeable ones

i got a xbox one s in 2016 and i still use it to this day! i do own a ps4 pro now but i still mainly use the xbox one s mainly for forza and halo. Mad respect to both Consoles for changing gaming forever!

AA batteries is the way to go for controllers. You can buy a pack of rechargeable AA batteries and have them charged up and ready to go. I have a much better experience with my Xbox one x when the controller dies because it’s a quick battery swap. With my PS4 pro, I need to plug in a cord that doesn’t stay in well because it’s an old micro USB, and the battery dies 3X faster than my Xbox because it is so old. When the battery gets to 1 bar, the controller starts to act up probably because it’s so old and the voltages screw around and do whatever old batteries do.

Then there is the need to charge the controller after using the console. The PS4 controllers must be plugged into the USB ports and they are on the front of the console. Generally, they stay plugged into that usb port at all times — it’s unsightly. Could I unplug them and put them away? Sure but it’s a hassle. So I don’t do it. The Xbox looks much more tidy because I don’t have controller cables to deal with hanging off of it all the time.

Using AA batteries to power console controllers has made them better suited for the future and as someone who uses electronics for longer than most instead of buying the newest thing, I really appreciate longevity being part of their design.

IMO XBOX in every generation has been a better machine. For what ever reason, the marketing department at Xbox has been abysmal at best and have never had a good marketing campaign for its consoles.
