I'm Thai, but I live in London. I can say that life in Bangkok is a lot better than life in London.
Everything is cheaper and better.
Plus, Thailand is one of the rising stars in the world as Asia develops.

I am Thai living and working in Australia for 6 years, I think for young people they are just starting the beginning of their life and want more adventure. The cost of living in Australia is very high and house is so unaffordable, rental is very expensive and people are very stress, the weather is very unpredictable which can affect our mood and emotion. Even Ausralian want to leave the country as they now added the land tax. Here we pay tax 30% up and the more you earn you pay more. The healthcare system is very slow, a lot of step to take before you can see specialist, after you did the test it took many days to get result and to go for operation in public hospital you have to wait for 3months. Medication very expensive and hard to get without prescription. Do the research and be realistic before going anywhere in the world. The grass is not always green on the other side. People live very independent here not like Thailand when it is more community based. The lifestyle here is too boring, people just work but not connect and lots of people have depression. Staying in huge capitalism country is not answer for everyone. Me and my Australian partner is planning to move to Thailand soon. Your mental health and family is more important than money.

As a person who lived in Thailand and worked there for Thai companies for 2 years its shocking for me to see how ignorant and narrow-minded the foreigners coming here can be. How can you even dare to compare life in countries like Australia or Switzerland to life in Thailand. Have you tried to work for the same salary in here as Thai people do? Of course not. U come to Thailand pretty much to impregnate hookers with your "developed countries pensions", feeling like u figured it out and know better than locals do. Thats for sure a thing in here: falang moving in in large numbers for girls absolutely ignorantly closing their eyes to any problems that this country has. I wish the best to Thai people who want to move away from Thailand in here and to find a better life anywhere else in this world!❤

Most of the people commenting here complaining about life being harsh in developed countries compared to Thailand ... U must be out of your minds. Come to Thailand, work here for an average 20 000 baht per month ( Which is an average salary for Bangkok, btw, not an average sum all around the country), try to save anything off that and on top of that keep food on the table for all your family members. No question there are difficulties everywhere, but how can you compare first world countries to a country which is beyond comprehension poorer.

If cost of living is dirt cheap in western perspective, it means wages are generally also very low.

Totally understand the sentiments of these young people as majority of Asian countries has to think about their family all the time. After graduation, they will have to earn to support the family. As sad as it sounds, they have to carry the burden of being a breadwinner. I hope that in the future most asians won’t have to do this anymore as it really takes a toll in mental health, emotional and physical health.

easy question. teenagers nowdadays are mostly brainwashed by some evil politicians. The true history is distorted and teens are convinced to hate their own country for no reason. If you raise the same question to those older or 30+ age, their answer would definitely in contrast 😊

You can do the same interview in Moscow and hear mostly the same answers (except selling weed lol). I also heard the same thing from my English teacher from Australia. I guess that's a worldwide issue, economy is not in the greatest shape and many people think it will be better somewhere else. I am not saying looking for opportunities is wrong, but that's natural for people to feel great at their home countries with their family and friends. It should be like people could be comfortable to stay at home if they like and have enough opportunities at where they were born and grew up.

It is almost impossible for most Thai people, except for some exceptional people, to keep up with the pace of the system in western countries because 1. They are too lazy to live in the West 2. They use the word "it's up to me" too often 3. It is almost impossible for them to get used to western culture in terms of mentality 4. Thai girls, in general, are not like those in western countries They compare life to the Rio carnival. Before they head west, they don't know how much they will miss their life in Thailand after their short stay.

Because thailand is a backward country full of aholes who do not care about each other. Egocentric behavior is running this nation into the ground. Disfunctional, broken and dirty. This is a place where peopel refuse to learn . Refuse to care about their neighbours and live worse than most of my dogs....Sorry i'm just the messenger. I'v been here long enough to see the truth. You people do nothing for your nation but drag it down.

Very interesting conversation. It's strange how no matter where people live, they perceive other parts of the world to be better. I suppose the reality is that life is tough everywhere. The same complaints apply to where you want to live as it does on where you live now.

But those f**kin unstoppable dictatorship driving ppl want to leave their own land. Myanmar too. Actually everybody love their land. But they can't any more. The gov and system sucked everything. So we fighting back'em right now. We're sure we can change our land better.

I’m Swiss-Thai. Sometimes you have leave to come back better 😆 I think mostly young thai people just want to try to have a better life outside of 🇹🇭 to study, to work, get better finance, find love or simply living something different. But in the end, even if they have it all abroad and get married or get good finance, in the end it doesn’t matter ! Most of the time thai people always go back ! Because Thailand is one of a kind country ! It simply makes you happy and smile everyday when you are in 🇹🇭 The daily life and the general vibe are enough to make you feel good in your mind !
That’s my personal opinion and that ‘s the reason why I plan to leave and go to 🇹🇭 forever 😀

After more than a decade I went to southern Thailand, to be exact Narathiwat again in February 2023 and I could see significant infrastructural development there. Thailand's economy has grown a lot and so is the cost of living there. Well, nowhere is cheap nowdays, I guess.

Am just wondering, with such ridiculously low interest rates on Fixed Deposit (Money Market), and expenses shooting up by the day, how exactly do Thais save for a future...The Stock Market too is a blackhole for Investment.... In the 90's before the Economic collapse, the Interest Rates and Pay made loads of sense, albeit, the Rates did get questionable at one point to contribute to the collapse, but this now, seems to be another extreme of things.

Yes we have wealth in Luxembourg, but the living expenses are astronomical compared to Thailand. Good luck finding a furnished apartment 50m2+ near Luxembourg city for under 1500euro and then we are not even talking about food and gas/electricity...
