It's definitely noticeable on lots of things, and it's generally getting REALLY expensive to live as a disabled person who sometimes does not have the luxury of buying cheaper options - sometimes I have to buy a more expensive version of something to have it precut or whatever.... Not to mention that the benefits cap has not moved, nor has the amount being paid, there's just one off cost of living payments when many people were already living with significant financial difficulty.
Ответить16% 😭
ОтветитьLast time the Tories were "financially sound" was shortly before the huge mistake in "Big Bang" banking deregulation in 1986 which made us vulnerable to casino banking crashes underwritten by high street retail banking. Hence the 2008 shock and 15 years of Austerity. (They also sold off vital infrastructure and utilities like rail, water, and energy.) I'm old enough to remember 1986, but I wonder how many of your viewers are! Vote responsibly, folks.
ОтветитьMassachusetts did something... they all have to be cage free by law..
ОтветитьGrocery prices have gone up crazy in the US. Basics like sour cream from .96 cents to 2.56. Some things have gone back down because the stores could not get away with some of its theft. Your way off on prices.
ОтветитьI have a benchmark: a pack of frankfurters. It was pretty much the same £0.99 for.years.
Last year it went to £1.85 and now is.£2.35
I live in the SF Bay Area, I can’t find prices as low as the ones shown for the US. For example eggs is consistently $2.99 for the cheapest kind. Usually it’s close to $3.49. I find grocery shopping in Hammersmith much cheaper.
ОтветитьI’m in South Carolina in the US. Occasionally for laughs (or tears) I’ll compare prices for things online at Asda and Walmart. Asda wins almost every time! But if you want super processed crap, it’s so much easier to get in the US. I swear the bad stuff is cheaper than the healthy stuff because the US wants us sick so we’ll keep spending on healthcare costs!
ОтветитьYour style is maybe a bit too excitable for me to consume on a regular basis, dude. However, this cross country and cross year comparison is a literal public service. Well done.
ОтветитьRent , mortgage interest rates, insurance premiums and taxes are up in the states 20-30%
ОтветитьWow yall still have Safeway in America 🇺🇸? 🤔
ОтветитьHeinz is an American company yet yall don't eat Baked beans for breakfast!? 😮🤷🏿♂️ 😪
ОтветитьThe UK Government have effectively eliminated all of thefarming subsidies that existed. Frankly, one of the major things behind the inflation is the added cost of UK farming. So, when looking at specifically UK farmed products the inflation is easier to understand.
ОтветитьAnd here I thought cheap food was something the US was doing right😅. Ill take take your word on the fair comparison side, but i would never pay these prices in a grocery store.
ОтветитьHuh more remoaners first of all prices of every day goods have gone up 50% plus every where second we didn't get what we voted for which is full independence from the EU and having full control over our boarders and laws which we the 17m+ votes for 🙄😔
ОтветитьOh. You do have a pretty voice!
ОтветитьI usually don't skip sponsored segments, this caught my attention from it. "Jeremy Hunt ruled out tax cuts in fear of fueling inflation."
And then, one month later they announce that the NI tax will be cut by 2% in January. Transparently to win votes in the upcoming elections. Inflation be damned.
those US eggs look like factory non free range eggs, maybe compare free range eggs?
ОтветитьYou're going to have to stop using those Americanisms -"two times as cheap" when you mean "half the price". Come on dude 69% higher IS NOT twice the price.
ОтветитьBrexit didn't cause inflation. Money printing and demand outstripping supply has caused rising prices. Britain is facing the same problems as most of the western world.
ОтветитьThe GOP aka the Republican Party is the US equivalent of the British Tories.
Ответитьbrexit is not the cause of grocery price increases nor inflation unless your saying the brexit caused global economic damage causing EU countries like Germany to go into recession xD Food prices are cheaper now unless your going to importers like aldi lidl which sell imported goods with worst quality the best example being the HORSE MEAT scandal were horse meat was being sold as beef mince and was being used in multiple foods ready meals and so on Just another example of the rubbish dodgy stuff being imported from Poland and other EU countries. EU doesnt even enforce its own standards and laws with lots of EU goods being created with modern slavery, illegal chemicals and so on just a whole bunch of unfair practices that are illegal even in the EUs laws. Dont take my word for it take the words of EU farmers who keep barricading motorways government buildings and even went to brussels to protest.
Ответитьdraw a comparison with a country that imports everything, such as the UAE.despite the fact that everything is imported, prices here remain cheaper
ОтветитьBritish Beef should never ever be compared to US beef... Some reason gristle is acceptable in British beef.
ОтветитьThis comparison, while fascinating and entertaining is quite meaningless because there are so many variables that affect food prices and understanding those would make for a very long video. Supply chains for many products are impacted by global forces that regularly fluctuate causing prices for goods to spike or fall over a very short time. Also I think that when someone hears that something is produced in the US or Canada they expect it to be cheap within its domestic market. However, shipping costs from one part of the US to another can be greater than something imported into the UK. For example, you can buy Alaskan halibut and salmon in Miami.
ОтветитьLooking at these prices as a Canadian. Le sigh.
Ответить1.50 for a clover valley loaf of bread at dollar general
ОтветитьThis is exactly why inflation is such a fake number to go from. If I buy something in the US for $5, it should reflect the same amount anywhere else in the world for that exact same product. I don't think many Americans realize how boned they are.
Ответитьhaircut
ОтветитьI moved from USA to Mexico
No problems in my retirement.
You're seriously comparing battery hen shite to free range?
ОтветитьI guess the anti-steal devices fitted to meat recently isn't going anywhere.
ОтветитьTo be fair, UK pound used to be a lot stronger against USD. I'm interested to know how much the groceries are on a national scale for both UK and US because while US have a lot of expensive cities, we also have a lot more cheaper cities.
ОтветитьI think the US was about a year 'ahead' on the inflation. It is probably practically impossible, but it would be interesting to see these comparisons going back a few years.
ОтветитьBrexit does not cause inflation....inflation is caused by free money...via printing,,,,
ОтветитьIt will be interesting now that Labour are now in power can't wait to see the results Evan mate.
ОтветитьAh a UK none sale price might be artificially high due to a planned sale
ОтветитьTime periods of increase might not match.if butter went up drasticly in 2022, of course it can fall in 23. If it not went up in 22 very much, there is still a little more increase in 23.
ОтветитьI'm on SSDI and received a nice 8.7 % from COLA. After some research, I learned that corporate greed is responsible. Vote for that party that will help bring this selfishness down!
ОтветитьIn Switzerland EVERYTHING is very expensive.
But all the dairy stuff (the variety of dairy products is the greatest on planet earth), eggs, vegetables I buy in the grocery store are sourced from around the corner, if not from my direct home canton, then from another canton. Meats (I'm a vegetarian though, also I despise all the microplastics in the food) and what have you are local - you CAN buy cheap stuff from the EU for example, but I would never.
I appreciate that the taters, the fennel, the onions, and all kinds of other vegetables are sourced very locally.
Sometimes you know the farmers personally.
But that’s why the US has such a large and proud economy. „Ask what YOU can do“ vs what’s done for you.
Produce cheaply (workers and ingredients) on a huge industrial scale. Then:
Consume, consume, consume.
Sadly, I‘m talking about food right now.
Btw the highly processed food on a large industrial scale, wrapped in plastic, what’s labelled incorrectly, leftover or whatever, get shipped to huge feed mills, ground down and pressed into feed pellets to feed life stock (fattens quicker the more sugar you feed).
No, I don’t left out the step in the pellet production where the food gets unwrapped first before going into the mill.
Ain‘t nobody got time for that and can’t be bothered.
Microplastics are found in all animal products, dairy, honey, human breast milk, Antarctica….
Wonder where all the carcinomas come from?
Ever heard of the „plastic soup“ that animals and people alike consume on a daily basis, multiple times a day…
But a minimum wage worker barely affords highly processed fast food, I get that, and it's very sad.
One thing Americans get paid way way more then us brits do our salary in the UK 🇬🇧 is FCKing ridiculous compared to the US 🇺🇸 the US 🇺🇸 have amazing salaries
ОтветитьExcellent review keep it up
ОтветитьI would love to see a comparison with Germany's Aldi/Lidl with the UK and US 😊
ОтветитьJust seen the date of this - hoping theres a new one of these in the next month or so :D
ОтветитьUK prices are wayyy too high and wages havent changed in 15 years
ОтветитьBREXIT was over before they shutdown the economy for two-years. Now really why do you think we're all suffering inflation?
Two-years economic stagnation plus billions in Quantitative Easing, creating currency that IS by definition inflationary, or a shift in markets from a restrictive single market of 435 million to a global market of billions? The commonwealth alone is 2.7 billion.
Waiting on the next comparison for this!
