This has been VERY helpful! I got the game in 2017 but maybe played it for 20 hours then didin't touch it until about a year ago where I loved it but I was confused on which area to go to next for the main story so I just completed the first zone in the game and quit. Redownloading the game today and am very excited to get back into it.

As a brand new player that has never played ESO. The best zone for me would to be a land that pretty much goes straight to the markers. Because some markers can really be hard to find. So finding a land that pretty much goes to the markers would be my type of starting zone.

I’m almost done with DC area, and just finished main quest. Should I go EB or AD before going in to zone 7 on this map?

Appreciate this but also want to add the chronological order on the forums is quite good. Not sure if it is up to date but I remember it going all the way to Backwood.

I disagree. The Dominion has by far the most interesting story.

The covenant is just loads of zombie mobs and the pact line is so boring, you lose the will to live half way through.

The whole “Daedra War” thing really went nowhere. Bit like the three banners war, that barely even gets acknowledged in the last three years.

The only side note I would add to this is that if you're doing the story chronologically, I would slot The Imperial City right after finishing all the alliances and the main quest, since The Imperial City is what kinda bookends the "main story" of the base game.
