First of all, so-called "Muhammad Ali" isn't even his real birth name? I think it's a disgrace and shows complete disrespect of one's heritage to change their birth name, unless when a woman gets married. If a woman gets married and DOESN'T change her last name, that shows no respect to her husband. His birth name was "Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr ". The change was probably made as the result of a greedy Business Manager, with respect to perceived anticipation of greater recognition and subsequent monetary gain?! Furthermore, he was a mindless thug who beat people up for money.

My favorite knockout of his was of the U.S. government when they tried to make him go to Vietnam, even though he flunked their test. He spat in their faces and let them know he didn't belong to anyone but G-o-d. Although offending a lot of America, he subsequently became a hero, and a people's champ in the sense of standing up for what is right. He became a living martyr. The gov't killed 3 prime years of his career, but he became champion two more times anyway, and later being voted the Greatest Athlete of the 20th Century. He exposed the treachery and cheating of the U.S. government, and although they knocked him down, just like in the ring - he couldn't be knocked out! They received a phantom punch from Ali the way he did to Liston II, but with the impact of flooring Foreman.
