I'm using tp-link router and when I need to connect office rpc then I need to off & on router, then my home pc is able to take office rpc. But sometime it's still not able to connect. Home machine- WIn8 , office machine - win11,Internet- GTPL network

Dont ever disable your firewall and open port 3389 to the internet. You will be asking for trouble if you do.

1. This isn't a solution for any user get dynamic IP. When your IP changes and you aren't with your device cannot access to it.
2. Disable the firewall? Should only allow for the application you using, not disable it completely.
3. Put your IP in DMZ?
If your IP isn't changed, now any hacker can access to your laptop easily.

so many things wrong with this video ..... 1) putting local IP in DMZ in router is bad practice and unnecessary in this case since you added an entry in the port forwarding 2) this method does not solve the issue of using a Dynamic IP as it will randomly change and only worked in this case because you did a lookup, what happens when it changes and you are at a remote location?

by the way, at first I followed all the steps accordingly but I couln't actually do any remote desktop from outside my network. but then I remembered that my network setup is a little different.


I have a ZTE modem and a TPLink router. The ZTE Modem is just there to bring (/convert) the signal from the ISP to my house, then it passes the signal to the TPLink router. It doesn't do more than that.


I applied the steps you showed on the TPLink router and nothing was happening and I realized that, those needed to be done on the device that has a link to my ISP, in this case the ZTE Modem.
So I did NOT undo the configuration on the Router (the DMZ, Port Triggering and everything I had just configured). But I went ahead and configured DMZ on the ZTE modem (I specified the IP to be the Ruter's IP, and not the computer's IP - because that was already done on the Router) and then I added a virtual server (and again, specified the RDP port 3389 and set the IP to be the router's IP, and not the computer's). So after that it was working. Once again, THANKS!

You don't need to disable firewall, create incoming and outgoing port rules in firewall. if your disable your firewall you will be vulnerable to any external attacks. Be Carefull Guys! its not a joke.
