why is everyone comparing the R3 to the i3? why not the i5 7500 ? i get the dollar to dollar comparison, but everyone is overlooking the core to core , thread to thread comparison.

also you dont need z270 to oc the 7350k. 170 will do it, just need a bios rev. which if you have a $5 bios chip programmer it's self explanitoy. otherwise, you need the cheapest skylake you can find on ebay or whatever for like >40

Intel's 4 Core Gaming is dead, even when 7700K runs better for gaming as compared to Ryzen 5 / 7 chips due to the simple fact that in the current market apart from G4560 their chips have no value for money.

go for the 1200 with the better cooler, change about 2 settings in most bios and you have a 1300x. Then get a good last gen used graphics card and cheap board. Sorted.

I haven't had my hands on with a wraith stealth cooler yet, but it's definitely interesting how some channels report decent overclock with the stock cooler while others see very high temperatures.

Scored a 7350K for £99.00 yesterday from Scan, renders the R3 almost pointless.

I don't get why these CPUs are being tested with b350 motherboards. From an enthusiast point of view overclocking is great and all but, considering the price point of these things I wouldn't be able to justify paying the 40$ extra on a b350 motherboard instead of a a320 motherboard (that's the price difference here in Norway at least). Just like the i3 7350k is ridiculous in it's own way considering that you need a z270 board to over-clock them to begin with (which is usually priced around the same as the CPU itself).

after all we are talking about a 130$ CPU here and anyone who is actually considering them are also quite likely looking at really small margins for what they can afford.

If I was jumping into new system at the entry level point, I think I would go either of the following:
1) G4600 w/1050ti (maybe float with integrated graphics for awhile until I saved up for discrete card)
2) R3 1200 w/ RX 560 (AM4 is a way more tempting platform than 1151 for the future)
3) the AM4 bristol ridges are coming out...worse cpu but better integrated graphics than G4600

It's always amazing how people come away from the same video with such completely different views of what was presented...of course, I'm assuming that people actually bother to watch the video before commenting...

Video of empirical data showing the i3-7350K outperforming the r3 1300x in nearly every test at stock speeds and in every test when overclocked. Most of comment section goes into either "RIP i3, r3 is better" or "Why didn't you give r3 the praise it deserves/why didn't you make a hard recommendation for people to buy r3 CPUs?" Get off the hype train and look at the data people...I just don't understand it.

Then again, when looking at CPUs this cheap for new computer (especially a gaming rig), you probably would have better luck just buying a pre-built, you'd probably get better components for the same cost.

I'm frankly surprised of the number of people who are defending the dual core garbage known as the i3. These chips are comparable to an 15w ultrabook cpu. I for one can't wait when dual cores die for good.

AMD should have used the 4 core 8 thread chips for R3 and created an R1 with 4 cores 4 threads. Then the new R3's could cost $125-$150 and the R1's could cost $75-$95. That way when pitted against the i3, i5, and i7 the Ryzen parts with always have more threads. Against the cheaper Pentium parts Ryzen would still have overclocking, and 4 actual cores with greater cache. That's what I think they should have done and at least do it for their Zen+ stuff. That gives a very cheap and usable CPU to open the gates for people into the AM4 platform, and pretty much completely displace all Intel Core i series parts.

Steve,
Any chance you can make a guide do DDR4 bandwidth across the RYZEN lineup?

That's for gaming (with medium and high-tiered GPU's both), highly-threaded applications, comparing perhaps 2400MHz (Dual Channel) up to 3200MHz for each CPU in each situation?

What type of idiot would actually ever buy the 7350K? You need a 40$ Cooler and a 120$ Z270 MB. That wipes out any cost savings, in which, you could receive. R5 1600 200$, B350 MB 70$, literally eats the i3 7350K for dinner in every single way shape and or form. It's really easy to ignore the cost of a platform when you receive everything for free, but most of us don't have that pleasure, so please be consider that.

hey gamers nexus, i wish you had all your benchmarks lists in your website in one place, that way it would be the go to place for people who want to buy a pc, your reviews section has some lists but some has them & some dont, so it takes time to find them, & then we dont know if its up to date, so if you would do a benchmarks section that you would update everytime a new part is out it would be great

I have a question, I've read the article but I just wanted a lil more detail on the process. I'm curious on how the power consumption of the CPUs were measured. Was it via a clamp meter around all the 12V lines of the EPS connector to deduce the power?

Sorry but the 7350K is still an idiotic product. 5hz ? Yeah factor in the cost of the motherboard and the cooling ( by the way R3s OC just fine with the stock cooler) and it just simply doesn't make sense , so no thanks. Currently the only products from Intel that are worth looking into is the G4560 and 7700K.

I like your content and kudos for doing proper testing, but if I may make so bold as to comment on how you present the findings (I will, it's rhetorical )
1. When spitting out the preformance numbers you sound like you're just reading test data, which you are, but the problem is that you're going through it so fast that it all gets smoothed together and literally sounds like you got a ton of numbers and letters and just tossed em in a blender and then read them out as fast as possible to get the video finished. In part I believe the naming scheme is hurting you, while accuracy and precision both count for you, it's murdering the presentation, since you're at the core comparing 2-4 basic skus, maybe consider calling them ryzen (oc) Intel (oc)
2. The graphs while undeniably great and polished, the labels are tiny, as fast as you're speeding through the chart, I can't pick out a single one without my face up to my phone or even my 1600x900 monitor, maybe enlarge the tag on each one you're talking about, the highlight helps draw attention but when discussing 6 scenarios, I may as well ignore your video and just read the graphs myself, which seems a shame since you guys really have put a lot of work into not only the data but videos as well

I hope you accept this in the vein of constructive criticism rather than armchair quarterbacking

The fact it gets you on to the AM4 platform extremely cheaply is massive, for decent performance, possible upgrades when the system is build then are easy to as all Ryzen CPUs will work on pretty much all B350 Boards.

This should matter when Reviewing these parts.
