Thanks Megan. I’m new here but I’m willing to try.
ОтветитьGreat hacks! Thanks
ОтветитьI used this trick recently to save several hundred dollars on 4 tickets from London to Edinburgh. I live in the US and by switching my VPN to the UK, the ticket price was $80 cheaper per person (currency adjusted). A funny and important note if you are in the US and try this- the UK calendar runs from Monday-Sunday instead of Sunday to Saturday. I had to cancel and rebook my return flight because I thoughtlessly clicked on Thursday instead of Wednesday, so pay attention to the DATE and not just the placement on the calendar.
ОтветитьIt was fortuitous that I came upon this video as I was searching for flights from Bangkok to Toronto and took a break to watch your video. I have learned quite a bit from them all and since I am not a frequent flyer this assist me greatly and I thank you.
I'd love to know why she flies so often.
They always ask for your email, what then?
ОтветитьThis doesn't add up. Clearly, at 3mins20s in, you are comparing the price listed in GBP and USD, for the sake of this comment.
In it you show GBP 661, and USD 809 - that is virtually THE SAME PRICE! The conversion from GBP to USD is around 1.25 USD for every 1 GBP. The same for Canadian dollars (different rate). There is no magic happening here, and you are incorrect in saying that one is "cheaper" than another.
Do you really think airlines are so stupid that they have "bugs" like this to allow people to exploit?
You also fail to clearly explain to your audience that if someone stupidly follows your advice and changes their location to change the currency used when purchasing a ticket from their usual national currency, unless they are using a credit card from Amex or another that doesn't charge currency conversion fees, they are just screwing themselves over again by paying 2-5% in fees on top of the SAME price they would have paid if they had just used their own national currency.
Be careful at checkout to make sure the system hasn't changed the price or currency based on your credit card. It's happened to me. Thanks for the video.
Ответитьnot sure when I'll be flying again but I will check it out. thanks.
ОтветитьI love Canadian YT'er especially those who had braces or a lisp, as they do a mix of exaggerated hand gestures and enunciation in their videos.
I see it is a lot of travel vloggers. as I watch a lot of these looking for some tips I may not know, and there are a lot of robust channels. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I just looked at 1 flight through 9 different countries (all low income) and wow I can spend the same amount of money in 9 different currencies - the same exact amount as my already booked USD ticket! This is a life changer!! If YT allowed screenshots I'd show the proof
ОтветитьThank you! There is so many hacks in this simple process. Need to pay attention to every detail.
ОтветитьRespect viewers time , your video could of been 5 minutes. Not 15 min
waste of time 👎🏻
If you travel much, consider a credit card that has no foreign transaction fees. Mine is thru Chase and casts $95 per year, but saves me more than that in those pesky fees.
ОтветитьYou are great to watch. I am glad I came across your site!
ОтветитьI tried using a VPN not your referral from another source, guess what blocked my Google and other sites lol that completely defeats the purpose, need to get one that does not block sites that I use.
ОтветитьThat’s because United is in Star Alliance with Air Canada. Therefore they collude in Canada.
Canada needs open skies legislation to get competitive rates.
Yes but it can still be expensive with a foreign transaction fee depending where you go.
ОтветитьThumbs up 👍 Meagan

ОтветитьWe just returned from a short trip to NOLA and want to pass on a lessoned learned. When we booked the flight with UAL, I used my Mileage Plus number, but there didn't seem to be a place to add my wife's Mileage Plus number. That became a problem because her TSA precheck did not show up on her boarding pass while mine did so we both had to go through the whole TSA scrum!! UAL explained that we should have used "MyUAL" to manually add her id number. Hopefully this can assist someone else that uses your information. Thanks, JAH
ОтветитьI’ve done it and I just did it a few weeks ago coming back from Europe. I saved almost $455.
ОтветитьOpp. price wins.
ОтветитьWhy do people feel the need to attack you with their comments? You are just trying to be helpful...and you are correct. I fly a lot and by using my VPN, I have saved anywhere from $20 to over $800 on many flights. Not all flights, but many of them. My average savings this year on the roughly 15 flights I will have taken is going to be perhaps $75 to $100. A couple of years ago I flew from Chicago to Japan. I saved over $1,200 by switching my location a few times as I searched. Using a VPN is crucial for this hack to work best. Thanks for your video.
ОтветитьAll 3, UK, CAN and US were within US$20 of each other. No big savings there.
ОтветитьAnother hack I have discovered is instead of booking a round trip ticket - booking two one ways - same airline/same flights - but sometimes cheaper - which doesn't even make sense? and of course also booking two one ways on different airlines might save some bucks too - you don't have to book a round trip ticket - do some hunting around!
ОтветитьYou're correct, it depends on the airline. Japan Airlines, and I believe ANA, uses regional websites, so you have to login to the specific website to purchase a ticket. If I want to fly from Tokyo to Bangkok, or vice versa, I would need to book the ticket on the Japan region, international site. If I'm going from LA, to Tokyo, to Bangkok, I can book all legs on the North American site. I would not be able to book from LA to Tokyo on the Europe site. Not sure if only the Japanese airlines operate this way.
ОтветитьIt doesn't work for me. I tried on United page. Reminds me that I once booked connecting flight because it was cheaper and decided to fly only second leg. At the airport they said I should have started at the first leg for ticket to be valid and my ticket is no longer valid therefore, but those were days when airlines were friendly and they just let me on the flight and continue all the flights on the ticket.
ОтветитьI booked two tickets for a return flight from Vancouver to Manila and saved $1200 by using incognito mode on Chrome. It was a total fluke as I hardly ever use incognito mode and still don’t know why I decided to that day. So glad I did though as it paid for a flight from Manila to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur back to Manila for my hubby and I as well as my brother and sister in law who we decided to treat as they are letting us stay with them for free. With plane tickets being so expensive compared to pre-Covid, any hack is a good hack!
ОтветитьOne such hack -- is permitting one's-self prior knowledge -- that though airlines spend every aorta of financial courage and asset of executive minds trying to create importance for passengers whilst on their plane --nearly all passengers still sadly always discover - many of such operators ought--after all - take their 'duty etiquettes' to banks of fresh ideas river -- and beat it with rock solid corporate principles till it is squeaky clean, otherwise, majority of their flights would continue to be marked with long stretches of uncertainties in services provided by accompanying staff.
I will definitely be trying the hack. I need to book my fights for my vacation.
ОтветитьGreat tip! I have some flights to book so I’ll give it a try :)
ОтветитьYYZ, sweet
ОтветитьI had a different type of savings when flying from Budapest Hungary, to Johannesburg South Africa. The main long flight was from Amsterdam, so the Budapest-Amsterdam leg was a short "feeder flight". I checked for the routing from Vienna-Amsterdam-Johannesburg on the same morning, since VIenna's airport is only a few hours away from Budapest's. To my surprise, the entire fight was over $200 more, starting from Vienna. Why? Because Austria is a higher-income country than Hungary! So, it turned out that on the 11 or 12 hour flight from Amsterdam, I might have been sitting next to an Austrian that paid $200 more for his seat just because he started in Vienna and I started my 2 hour flight to Amsterdam from Budapest! So this again shows that they price differently depending on the country that you are living in (or that they think you are living in - thanks, VPN!)
ОтветитьGood video, which I'll watch a couple of times again.
So, what penalties are open to the airlines, if they find you 'hacking' in this way?
By doing this, avoiding putting your traveler reward# means you're not earning. Right🤔 ? That would only affect those that travel enough to earn usable points, right? 🫡👌
ОтветитьBut what happens IF you want to get say United Miles credit, which usually requires you to log into your account, and then they know where your "home" country is??
One thing I've noticed (not specifically with flights) but that people should keep in mind, is that some countries have VAT or tariffs built-into the price, so the price you see may include that, whereas in other countries, like the US, this is not always factored into the price you see. Most airlines will add this for you so the price you see generally does include taxes, but since (in the US) tax on goods can vary from state to state, prices shown are not always shown with taxes, so what may appear to be a better deal on an item, may not be when you add taxes, or it may be the same price as say in CAnada or in Europe, it's just that those countries may add VAT automatically and you pay the price you see. I see this a lot when people try to compare prices on cameras for example from Asia, Europe and the US, and they notice a difference, only to realize that many countires in Europe for example have VAT buit-in whereas in the US taxes are not generally listed, and are only usually listed when you to actually buy the item.
Trust me bro there are less than 200 countries in the world...
ОтветитьVery cool pricing hacks. 🤟 I already use Express VPN to for added security and to watch a couple fav TV programs in Canada, while living the the US.
ОтветитьGet 49% off and 3 months free isn't exactly corrrect. They are offering 15 months for the price of 12 but the cost, you're out of pocket cost, is the same.
ОтветитьMeagan, looking at a Solo 2024 trip to Alaska. Will fly Boston to Fairbanks, then Anchorage back to Boston. Leaving September 4th. Any tips on the best time to buy my plane tickets? Round Trip vs One Way? 🤔
Ответить195 countries for now 😳
ОтветитьWow, what a price difference! Thanks for the hack Megan! 😊
ОтветитьThe Spanish example was a bad one, that is a train connection, it even said it.
ОтветитьYes definitely try it out thanks good hacks 😊
ОтветитьI fly between Bangkok and Los Angeles at least twice a year. I've known about this trick for a long time and have never been able to save any money. Do you really think the IT people writing code for the airline websites are not aware of this stunt? At the least you should reboot after changing location and checking price again. I suspect many are tracking your MAC address rather than location and this is challenging to change.
ОтветитьBy the way, as I have said before, I use Express VPN also for years now, and love it for the very same reasons you said. It's a must have.
ОтветитьThanks Megan! I will use your hack to book an in-country flight within Poland for January, 2024.
