Notice those concrete hollow blocks? They would last 500 years if they were constructed properly.
For my place, I made my own CHB’s and made sure to use the proper cement/sand ratio plus the right sand (not beach or river sand) along with fresh clean water. Then it needs to be properly cured (kept damp, not dry too fast).
The CHB’s I see for sale can often break apart in your hands. Mine can be thrown in the air over a concrete road and not break.
Manila is in an earthquake zone and unfortunately those neighborhoods are extremely unsafe.
