"That's not for you, that's for them and where they live"...

...No, actually those are supposed to be for 'you'. Public parks and streets are exactly that. Your tax dollars pay for their existence and upkeep, not for a bunch of addicts to live rent free and fill it with biohazards like dirty syringe needles and broken bottles of booze. They're stealing that public space from you just like they steal just about everything else you see them have (you ever seen one pay for shopping cart?...).

The fact LA city and California state have allowed a bunch of erratically violent, perpetually-incapable-of-accountability junkies and criminals to overtake those areas and flat-out REFUSE to enforce the laws is awful and pathetic - for both the homeless and everyone else.

Good information. That one bit about the sun is especially true. I went for a hike to the Hollywood sign and it was cool and cloudy, so I didn't bother applying sun screen. Then the clouds lifted and the sun came out in full force. Never been so badly nurned in my life.

You would have to have some basic self dense lessons going to LA or San Fran - I was there back in 94 & a Man threatened me with a Knife Displaying it in his Jeans over a Control of the Pool Table. I was like sure go ahead & take it. This was an unpleasing Memory for me after finishing a Season at Camp USA in Maine.

1. 95 percent of LA homeless have been importanted into the state from other states. 2. Most of the LA being dangerous rethoric is a false republican hit job on progressive large cities and is not true...like anywhere in the world be smart, be kind and you'll be fine.

Ive lived in LA my entire life, the whole "LA isnt safe" is completely hyped up, every city has its "dangerous" spots but people act like shootouts, homicide, gang activities happen 24/7 when in reality it doesnt. when in a "dangerous area" its not right to lable everyone as dangerous, lots of communities look out for each other and when in reality its a handful of people who are bad in "dangerous areas"

Smog/air quality in L.A. isn’t an issue except on the hottest days of the summer and/or when there is a wildfire. Check the AQI on your phone, and you’ll see that the air quality on most days is “good.” In June, L.A. has hazy, overcast skies in a phenomenon known as “June gloom,” but that’s just the marine layer, not smog.

It is amazing how many people in the comments are saying the Los Angeles safety crime thing is just a hype. God knows these people are in denial. not paying attention, or just had a luck of the draw.

RIDE THE BUSES, people have been stabbed and raped on that system. Go to Hollywood. Go to North Hollywood Station. Go to Van Nuys. Go to Canoga Park and Reseda. Don't worry, the violence WILL FIND YOU. I have lived here all 48 years of my life and can tell you Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, and now the problem is moving into Calabasas/Thousand Oaks and already. Palmdale and Lancaster are ghettos now.

Start a business and then see how hard it is to just break even when you have people crapping at your front door, people tagging to death your front door and breaking your windows, mentals walking into your business and beating and stabbing your clerks only to have some mouthy woke personality telling you that you don't pay enough taxes in the first place to pay to fix the problems anyways... "you are privileged." "You have a business and that means you have so much more extra money anyways." If you are white, you are a target. Don't believe me? You will find out.

While visiting LA, I took the Greyhound to Fullerton early in the morning, to get there I didn't realize I had to go through blocks and blocks of brand new condominiums that at their sidewalk level lined up, there were rows of homless people tents. As I walked past them I was greeted with a a good morning by most homeless people I encountered and I was only asked for a cigarette once or twice. I don't smoke so "thanks anyway" is what they said. There are a few homeless here and in all cities I have visited, including my hometown, who are very, very mentally ill, they talk loudly and sometimes angry, they may be the ones who defecate or urinate in public--this is very sad. I just avoid walking near them. But, the great majority of homeless people are polite.

LA is not really safe compared to what most Americans are probably used to. Riding the metro it's not uncommon to see a police officer turn a blind eye to drug use or people having dangerous drug induced psychotic episodes. Almost every day some crackhead will approach you asking for money which could be dangerous in the right circumstances. As a teenage boy multiple middle aged gay men tried paying me for sex, once was spied on while using the bathroom at a public park. Even the water here is near toxic levels. But there are still lots of awesome Burroughs in LA if you can afford the extremely high cost of living in those areas or tolerate commuting on pot-hole-riddled and overcrowded highways.

All your videos are the same. Your "safety" advice is pretty lame. I'll comment on your many inanities and add some actual solid safety advice. "Jaywalking?" Really? No. 1) Homeless: Do you have to be told to not feed the homeless or put your fingers in their cage? If you need this advice you probably shouldn't travel. Homeless people in L.A. come from all over the U.S. and they're as varied as people can be. Some are really nice. I've been stranded without money and had homeless people give me theirs. Many homeless are criminally crazy and will try to kill you. Best to just ignore all of them, even the ones screaming at you. If they attack you, fight back vigorously. They aren't used to that, but the crazier one's won't care. 2) Smog. Really? Are you joking me? We don't have smog and the air in L.A. is not a safety concern unless there's a wildfire, which due to govt. mismanagement of the forests, are frequent. Mentioning smog as a safety concern is ridiculous. 3) Buskers: I've only ever seen them in one spot: the Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Hollywood. Ignore them. The whole idea is of posing with some dude in pancake makeup is lame. 4) Earthquakes: they happen sometimes. You never know when they'll strike. If the "big one" strikes, despite what Wolter's says the effect on you will range from nothing up & through death. Earthquakes smaller than "The Big One" have killed a few people. Anything under about a 5.7 is not cause for concern. If an earthquake happens it'll feel and sound scary. Stay calm and wait for the rockin' to stop because there isn't much you can do. If you're driving, pull over & stop. Stay away from downed power lines. Try to avoid standing near stuff that can fall on you. Be wary of looters if The Big One. 5) Jaywalking is NOT A CONCERN AT ALL. I don't know what this guy is talking about. L.A. is one of the safest big cities in the U.S. to jaywalk. Pedestrians ALWAYS have the right of way in California & driver's are conditioned to this fact, so this Volters guy is just making this one up. 6) Traffic: For the most part L.A. drivers are very skilled. Everybody is used to the traffic. It isn't a big deal. All it does is slow you down, but there is nothing you can do about it. Try books on tape or listening to music. Zone out & relax. It takes forever to get anywhere in L.A., unless it's like 3:30am, then freeway speeds are good. DON'T DRIVE ON THE SHOULDER EVER. I don't know why Wolters thinks this acceptable. It is not. Ever. Large portions of L.A. are filled with dangerous people. Just be careful of aggressive citizens looking for an excuse to cause you damage. Don't challenge anybody for any reason. 7) Driving in the rain: It doesn't rain here. This is not a concern. We get like 15 days a year and people are very cautious in the rain because our streets get very slippery when water clings to the concrete. You really have to pay attention when you drive here because our road designers are terrible and you can easily have an accident because of their inept engineering. 8) People are your biggest security threat. Most people in L.A. hate each other. They will hate you too and if you look at them wrong, drive in the wrong neighborhood or through the wrong intersection, play the wrong music of wear the wrong color clothes. Also, people here think they are better than everybody else everywhere else and will give you problems just because of that. 9) Wear sunscreen as our sun can be relentless & you can burn in 10 minutes. 10) We have some of the best beaches in the world here. You should go to them & spend some time there. We have Great White Sharks in our coastal water. They nibble on someone every year. Don't let it be you by staying away or fighting back vigorously. 11) The biggest safety concern is YOU. You are the problem. Don't be loud, or aggressive, or think you're right, 12) We have many sporting opportunities. Be careful 13) L.A. is built on lies. The locals think fake is real. Don't trust anyone. Stay away from any food from street vendors, unless it's a large truck serving tacos. Swarm those.
