Hey Adam, it's not going to live in that workbench forever, in 4 years this is going to be a mess and you're going to completely redo this into flat files. And you'll also curse in the video where you're redoing it haha
ОтветитьAdam, you are one of my most favourite human beings, even though I've never had the pleasure of actually meeting you, I feel I know you. Your ability to entertain and inform is spell-binding and I thank you from the very centre of my soul. Namaste.
ОтветитьWith the fast mo and music, it looks like the Swiss Army knife is dancing. lol
ОтветитьAVP 👽
Yeah / it is surrender / they are the dangerous ones/ but cool 😎/ cool/
Nice
ОтветитьThere is a aspect of expediency to distributed tools. I have 4 or more calipers. A plastic one with the woodworking tools, One the electronics bench, one at the utility bench, etc. I have one "good" one I keep in a box with the other good tools. Mind you all of these are port-freight grade or lower. Convenience and expediency are factors to be taken in to consideration.
ОтветитьNo baby fat?
ОтветитьOK, WTF is going on here??? Adam said, "Studley". I said, "Who is Studley" And Adam said, "Who is Studley, you ask?"
ОтветитьI now want a Studley toolbox
Thank you Adam savage for this new obsession love your content.
put another two layers in there have 3 trays in one draw :)
ОтветитьHmmm this have given me inspiration . Thank you 😊
ОтветитьThis way lies madness. OCB Much??
ОтветитьCursing shows the value of a man.
ОтветитьA couple of quick thoughts, first Adam should invest in a router table and drawer lock bits, great for making locking corners on drawers and boxes, also with round over bits easy to soften corners on small pieces. Next, Rockler, Woodcraft (and others) sell pre-rabbited drawer sides made from prefinished plywood, not as cheap as roll your own, but less setup.
ОтветитьAdam!!!!! PLEASE MAKE THE "ACE OF SPADES" FROM DESTINY!!!! it would be an excellent addition to your famous handgun case
ОтветитьIm currently embarking on my alpha build of my own Studley, with my particular tools to be stored therein being mostly for working with leather, bone, and non ferrous metals. Coming back to this video really helped me let go of the idea that it had to be perfect in one go. It was always a fact that I had known, of course, but not something I was really sitting down and accepting.
Also I recently found that “this feels like magic even though I did make it myself” magic. I had made a set of Finnish knives, a puukko and a leuku, with a handle of reindeer antler, stacked brass leather and aluminum, and with a main section of cherry burl from a tree i harvested for the puukko and one of (very labor intensive) stacked birch bark for the leuku. The sheaths are made of carved antler and wood and overall it really doesnt feel like Im the one who made them. Like im not that good at this. And yet I know I did. Its a wonderful feeling and I echo the hope that every maker should have that experience with something they create.
Eagerly awaiting the Savage Industries toolbox.
ОтветитьThis simply begs for a Kaizen foam update.
ОтветитьI'm in the middle of trying to build small tool storage like this and am well aware of studley and yes, Intimidating as hell, but then I realize that that was his set up and I need to come up with my own like you are. It's taking long because of paralysis by analysis. I need to embrace the "first time won't be perfect" mind set and just do it and then revise.
Thanks Adam.
“God, I can’t wait for a haircut“ now that is a phrase I have never once said ever!
ОтветитьIt's amazing how Adam can get away with brainstorming outloud and rattling about side topics and it doesn't bother me one bit. Yet in some others' videos when they do that, I'm gone. 🤷♂
ОтветитьIf your making things to put your things in then you have too many things. I suffer this sickness too myself.
ОтветитьI keep all of my drafting tools in a pile in one small drawer. I know where everything is because it's all in one place.....a pile.
ОтветитьJust googled it. I didn't know a tool box could be sexy. 🤤 😂😂😂
Ответитьahh calibrated copying calipers ... are they 1 to 1 or are the enlarging or shrinking to 1.608 ... a cross is properly built at the golden ration the bottom leg is 1 unit and the top from the cross to the tip is .608 of the bottom ... properly ... and the cross bar itself is .608 of the top center beam ..
Ответитьwith the way your bottom part of the drawer is setup ... the top layer can be flip up card file style to hold every template ... circles ellipses lines curves etc ..
ОтветитьI'e always wanted to say this to you and I was hoping to say it in person if I ever got the honor to meet you, but that possibility seems further away every year, so I will say it via this comment and hope someday you read it. "You were my first and, to this day, greatest mentor. Thank you." you have changed my life so many times in so many ways since those early 2000s days when one of the first things I watched on cable TV was an early Mythbusters episode.
ОтветитьHe speaks like Saul Goodman
ОтветитьStudley, Henry wow!
ОтветитьSeems like he could of got 2 drawers out of that 1
ОтветитьAdam casually reminding me of the principle of "If you don't typically swear, it's more impactful when you do." Lovely to witness when the principle is used to express complete and utter joy. Amusing lesson for the kiddos watching, too, hahaha
ОтветитьThe problem with the Studley Toolbox is it presumes your done buying more tools. That place is only a myth. We all think we’re gonna get there someday, but like Moses in the desert, it is a promise land we shall never see.
ОтветитьProtect this man at all costs.
ОтветитьYou should attach the Golden Ratio tool to the outside of the drawer as a decoration (but also allow it to be removed.
ОтветитьHe sure has a lot of shit
ОтветитьThe little “Dora the Explorer “ moment was cute 😊😊
ОтветитьAdam fantastic job, may I make a suggestion, the scribe tool with the brass end, if you take that apart and lay it flat, then you could make a foam core cover, with foam handles to really keep you beautiful draw even cleaner. Just a suggestion. Love your videos and the work you do!
ОтветитьI only have one small tip for the utility of the drawer. Because the drawer face is recessed behind the leading edge of the bench, the far back of the drawer remains covered. In order to rectify this you'd need to use slides that extend the depth of the drawer plus the amount of the overhang of the benchtop. Therefore, an 18 inch drawer slide would give you better access to the items in the back. Otherwise, great build to watch.
ОтветитьShouldn't the draw be motorized with a remote😛😛😛
Whenever I attempt to organize my shop I reliz I have too much (stuff)
Do I need 4 of the same calipers??
This happened to me from having more than 1 shop.
Knowing how much I paid for the tools I find it almost impossible to get rid of any tools.
Thank you for the wonderful video.
Time for me to go to a dark room and work out my OCD 😋😝🤪
Your room is awesome. It reminds me of the opening to Ray Bradberry‘s show. Thanks
ОтветитьYou almost lost me! What a grand toolbox. And THEN I found his Workbench! What a sad mortal I am, never dreaming of such grandeur!
ОтветитьI was at that very moment, looking up 'The Studley Toolbox'. In fact, was wondering exact spelling and BANG!!! you provided that also! Omniscient? oh for sure:)
ОтветитьA unique place for each and every tool is cool... until you acquire one more tool.
Also, I'd argue boxes are where things go to die, and drawers are where things go to be accessed!
Did he become a lesbian?
ОтветитьI totally paused and Googled “Studley’s toolbox”.
ОтветитьHello Adam are you in my family tree?
Ответить
