Gawd the ignorance to real world events is unreal. Radiation is no joke. So do you know your exposed to radiation every single day? Luckily that body yo mom & daddy gave you can process a daily amount without side effects. For most anyway.

Their was a recent interview with Vasily wife in the HBO series he was screaming because of the pain but the real wife said he was calm the entire time and didn't scream in agony like they depicted

Vasily Ignatenko.
Born: 13th March 1961.
Died: 13th May 1986.
Fought fires on the roof of reactor 3 and the coolant stack, received lethal doses of radiation, estimated 16Gy. (4 times a lethal dose). Laid to rest in Mitinskoe cemetery.

Part of this video is somewhat misleading. At the time, it was speculated that Vasily Ignatenko was radioactive. We now know that this was not the case. To become radioactive, Ignatenko would have had to have been exposed to neutron radiation, which he was not. Once his contaminated clothes were removed and his body was washed, he posed no radioactive danger to anyone around him. The birth defects his daughter had were unrelated to his wife visiting him in the hospital.

Please I’d like people to really respect Lyudmila Ignatenko. She’s still alive and lives absolutly bullied since the HBO series. They didn’t ask her permition to put her name on a character. Her story is not the one that says here or in the series. She was allowed to walk in with his husband without knowing that would affect her baby, because neither her or the doctors knew. Very interesting. I was born with a cleft lip and cleft palate. I’m now 26 and have been trying for a baby with my wife for about 4 years. After many many tests it turns out I’m almost 100% infertile. Makes me wonder if my parents were exposed some how to take radiation?
