how do you know that you're in the vein or you are through the vein?

Lol,my nurse told me to use the tourniquet until you find the vein,then remove before the aspiration 😅

I’ve been taught to remove the tourniquet as soon as you get blood in the first tube, because it shouldn’t stay on for more than a minute. Is that not correct?🤔 Or maybe it’s different in other countries🤷‍♀️

Maybe also mention that the beveled head of the needle needs to be facing upward

Forgot to mention tube inversion! Especially important when drawing EDTA for hematology tests or sodium citrate for coagulation. Proper tube inversion allows the blood to mix with the additives to prevent clotting and remain in its whole blood state.
