Getting the right board and a decent cooler for the 11400F makes all the difference.

When I went up from my 2600 I tossed up the 11500 and 11600K.

The price difference and the running costs (11600's are pretty energy hungry) made me decide to go with the 11400F.

Most places are out of 11400F stock now sadly, although 10400F is still widely available at about US$130, but going 10th gen instead of 11th gen does cost you in features, particularly in PCIe throughput.

You can get an 11600K for about US$205, and a 10600K for about US$175

I managed to damage my B550 AM4 board and am getting it RMA'd. I'm impatient so I went out and bought a Z590 board and this CPU. According to various benchmarks it's stronger than my R5 3600 across the board, so I'm pleased I got this for so cheap too.

Just finished building my pc based on the 11400F and an Invidia an RTX 3060 with 15 gigs vram and 16 gig for the system...Sony Vegas is flying editing in 4k....Just a beast of a pc and not braking the bank..

rip, the 12400f is way faster than a only a 1 year newer cpu would suggest

12 gen alder lake came to the market a few weeks later, and negated this analysis all together... those who waited, got a much better tech for less money. 12400 is a killer....

but 10400F is only 127 - 132 usd so it might be better to stay with the 10th gen.

I've got this CPU on my MSI Trident desktop, and i've got absolutely no regret ! Quiet the opposite ! ;) .I also got a Ryzen 9 5900 on an Asus laptop, and both do the job perfectly...with windows 11, both my computers starts in 5 seconds max. Really enjoyable !

Good to hear someone getting the macro-message out, lots of reviewers out here dont seem to comprehend that $250 in 2019 is not the same as $250 today..

Yep, got the 11400F for everyday work. Best overall cpu for sure and really affordable.

You are spot on about inflation which is why I jumped on an i5 10600k on AMZ for $199 US. Basically you jump on a deal as soon as you find it. A few hours later the price went to $257. Good review.

Believe me or not i5 11400 just hit my country for $215 and now it costs around $265. And there is a huge shortage as well.

Very insightful, I've been reading shortages and inflation on everything left and right. I have a near 5-year old 4 core 4 thread CPU and been contemplating on building a new system since the pandemic has started (will use my existing GPU, a GTX 1060 6GB). So yeah, I might really pull the trigger now. Though I'm choosing between an 11400F or an 11500 as the latter has a slightly better iGPU than the 11400, better to be prepared just in case.

I wanted to go for a Ryzen 5 5600x but it was being sold for $425 then I looked at the Intel 11400f and I got it for $240, i really lucked out tho, everyone is looking for these chips and i got the last one from a friend with a store

I felt so relieved watching this video after buying my i5-11400F. In my country was $182 before taxes (pretty much the same as the US MSRP). Now it is almost $220. I also picked a B560 Pro 4 for around $150 ($30 more than US MSRP) and now you can’t find B560 Motherboards for less than $200. The i5-11400F is so good value that its street price is actually increasing because of the cost to performance compared to both R5 3600 and R5 5600X.

Btw for anyone that's interested on buying 11th gen, don't buy H410/B460 motherboards, they don't support 11th gen

Dumbest logic I’ve heard. People spending money on electronics and stuff stimulate the economy because it creates more sales which in turn create more jobs.

So I ordered the 11400 from Amazon since I couldn't even find a listing for the f. Amazon is waiting on more stock so they say end of month. Just grabbed an Asus TUF Gaming B560m-Plus Wifi.
