ОтветитьThank you very much. I use this to fix the same problem with my HTPC with Linux Mint connected to a 40" TV. Also I didn't have to edit the "profile" file for the change to persist after a reboot.
ОтветитьThank you so much for this video❤❤
Ответитьsomeone help pls:
kurtik@kurtik:~$ cvt 1440x1080

-v|--verbose : Warn about CVT standard adherence.
-r|--reduced : Create a mode with reduced blanking (default: normal blanking).
X : Desired horizontal resolution (multiple of 8, required).
Y : Desired vertical resolution (required).

kurtik@kurtik:~$
Does this also cover aspect ratio though or is one of the lines the aspect ratio

ОтветитьIt is not working for Ubuntu 22.04 can you make another video for 22.04 pls
ОтветитьHi, Thanks for such clear instructions. However, as soon as I applied the new resolution 1920 x1080, the screen went dark and the mouse just kept flashing. I had to force a shut down. Any ideas? I have a 27" iiyama prolite monitor. Thanks
ОтветитьBroken Linux strikes again
xrandr --newmode just gives you a bad request and a gamma error now.
failed to get size of gamma for output default
ОтветитьMy display settings are greyed out and running xandr produces an error.
ОтветитьTnx, man. But the profile file is blank when I start it (
ОтветитьА-а-а-а-а не чего не поняла😭😭😭
Ответить# xrandr
Can't open display
Only reinstalling system works....
Thaaaaankkkksss you made my day !
Ответитьthanks, worked in linux mint debian 5 edition
Ответитьit works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ответитьhey, i ran the commands but it didn't work. It did most of the stuff it needed to, but never added the resolution to the settings menu. What should I do? I'm using a base install of linux, not a VM.
ОтветитьYou made my day. I was trying to get 1280x1024 on Zorin OS but couldn't get it to work until i found this video. Fantastic work.
ОтветитьI've redone this 50000 times and it refuses to do 3000x2000 (HP Spectre) resolution. Idk wtf the problem is.
ОтветитьExcellent video 👍Interesting to focus on user space.
Could one possibly also look at:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/[[mymonitors]].conf ??? Dunno.
Kindest regards, neighbours.
can this be used in dualbooted ubuntu?
ОтветитьThank you so much, this was super helpful

ОтветитьThanks man. I had a problem with my new Linux Mint stuck in low resolution & unknown display issue. This one worked for me!
ОтветитьIts very useful 2022
Ответитьafter addmode command not showing that resolution in display setting
ОтветитьAfter I select and apply the screen resolution, it changes to the right size, but only for half a second and it goes back to 800x600 (in 20 years I never had this problem). Great tutorial though --this was my first "big problem" when I started with Linux.
