Whatever you have told is not complete. IELTS/TOEFL, GRE/GMAT scores everything depends on the university. Visa is not for 5 years. If we OPT extension only we can extend the F1 visa. Such a foolish video 🤦‍♂️

If universities don’t ask for GRE and GMAT, usually they are sub standard universities meant to trap foreign students for money. Most likely you will not clear visa interview with an admit to this University. If you finally make it here, it is going to be a big struggle to survive and find job in such universities. Use your own merit to study abroad.

So many things told here are false. If you have 5 yr f1 visa and finish course in 1.5 yes, the rest of the time is not called OPT. The moment you graduate the student visa is over and you have to get OPT. In opt you have 3 months to find a job or leave the country. Never hire consultants to come to USA. These unheard of secret universities are usually traps. Do research on your own.

Dear,
You are misleading and misguiding the students and parents. You don’t have the bare minimum knowledge of the rules prevail in USA UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES. To market your viewership you are really cheating the public. Students should visit the website of the colleges / universities and take admissions. Don’t rely on the false information of this fellow. He is narrating baseless and false informations through his videos. Those who follow this fellow, the students and their parents will fall into deep crisis and you will loose your wealth.

Dr , I would like to add a few sentences ,

In my opinion , unless you share which university is this , this information will only lead many students to get into the trap of these consultancies . US news is a good source for university rankings and rankings for its programs . A medium tier “public” university will cost about 50k for 32 credit hours “in an engineering graduate program (what is called post graduate in india is just graduate here - it’s called bachelor’s and Grad programs here )in top universities it will only go up and in lower rank universities it will come down . For non engineering programs it may be less . Fee structure in us universities are usually one for “in state” and higher rate for “out of state” students . International student fees may even be higher than out of state .
(Private universities and public or state universities exist in US and private is more expensive when equally ranked - so most students opt state universities )

Most university websites have admission sections and some online tools like - tuition calculator (or at least a pdf showing their fees structure ) - please check that . It will only publish the rate for the next 1 year , in coming years fees do get revised and it’s most likely they will go up, so be aware of that

Regarding visa - when visa is stamped based on I20 - your f1 visa stamping is for 5 years - it’s because some students may have gaps , may take semesters off in between . The f1 visa permits part time work of 20 hours on campus , in summer sem , if you are not taking courses you can work 40 hrs . Your pay is determined by the work you are able to find , it will be close to the minimum wage set by law for the state and may go up for more specialized work . Your F1 visa is valid only for the duration of your course (it’s not 5 years by default- your F1 is not valid once you graduate )

Once you graduate , you change your visa from F1 to OPT (optional practical training) - you apply for it from the international students office in your university upon graduation (it’s time bound) , currently opt is about 29 months or so (it used to be 1 day short of a full year ) . During this phase you can find employment opportunities related to your professional skill or the topics that can be somehow associated to the program you graduated in and work as interns or full time (opt will act like a work permit)

With the current opt , you get 2 chances in consecutive years to convert it to an H1B work visa , if you are able to find an employer willing to do your visa and your skill set is considered niche that there is not enough resources widely locally available in the place (city / county / state ) you plan to work . Note that you will be audited during this stage and your managers will be asked to verify your area of work and your role and responsibility , it is important that you work in a field somewhat relatable to your course

CPT - this is called curriculum practical training - this is similar to opt , but this is an option you can apply for in the middle of your study (you are yet to graduate in the program you are enrolled in ) , that you can avail in case you find a internship opportunity during your study that requires you to work outside the campus for 40 hours but it must be in a field related to your degree ( example - someone doing a computer graduation can find a job as computer intern in a software company , but cannot go and work in a restaurant and claim cpt ) . I am not sure what’s the max durations for this , most companies call for summer interns 4- months , some may be less than an year )

Ideally students try to get work with professors (again this depends on college and the endowments it gets from investors for experiments , research etc ) as teaching assistant and research assistant - if you are successful in this then usually the professor pays your tuition fees (what we call fees) and most likely you will also get a stipend that’s enough to pay for your accommodation and expense - but you cannot work for anyone else - you will have to spend time working for professor after your classes . Some universities also grant scholarships which may be able to help you pay “part of your fees” - but you can still work part time in campus.

There is another group of institutions called community colleges , they are more affordable and offers mostly associates degrees ( what we think of as diploma equivalent ) , so be aware if your admission is into a community college or not . If the fees structure feels too good to be true , please check
A. College or type of institution - how they are ranked by US news
B. What is the program offered is it a masters or some type of associates
C. Do you have to take additional pre requisite classes for you to qualify into the program
D. Are you directly admitted into the university or is there some middle men Involved ( if you see the word Global at the end of the university name - it’s a third party and not the university directly )
E. Which state they are location they are ( sometimes you have have affordable fee structure due to its remoteness )

If possible - see if there is an Indian students association in that university and see if you can talk to students there before you jump in
