WS2812 [Programmable LED Strip]

this seems interesting. I am planning in the future to make night lights / emergency lights that react to different scenarios. For example if I get up from my computer at night, I'd like the path to fridge or bathroom to be lit and turn off when I am no longer travelling on it. also, in case of firealarm, I would like the floor to guide to the nearest exit avoiding the danger. Also... could use the lights as rave lights in parties :'D I just need to learn more about programming to make any of this happen.
