Hello, Greg, great job. I learned a lot from your specialization ranking. I have a big decision to make. First of all, I am from Peru. I am in the ninth semester of my economics degree. I have taken university courses related to Machine Learning and Data Analytics, as well as finance-related courses. I have also worked as a data analyst intern. However, I am seriously considering taking one of the courses you suggested (IBM, Machine Learning Specialization, or Deep Learning Specialization), and I'm not sure which one, or should I take all of them? As you will understand, being in university, I cannot do all of these certifications right now. In that sense, I ask you which of these three you believe would be crucial to take to get a job as a Data Scientist or at least to secure an internship as one.

For those with domain knowledge using data even big data in their work it would likely be R not Python such as those in Econometrics and Statistics. In Economics its an R world and maybe the same in healthcare research - why? Its the one used by the lead researcher maybe when those using Python becomes the lead it would be Python. The same is likely the case for Business Intelligence and Analytics where it might not even be R but Excel, Power BI, Tableau or the package customized for the business. In cases where domain knowledge is required data capture and preparation could be outsourced and analysis done in house or by Consultants - in that case its likely Python thats used for capture and processing but other apps for analysis even excel where it could handle data in the GB and even above 50 mil rows with power BI even handling more data - but why? Because the business analysts are more into their domain than the package used to process so the allegedly easier package to learn are used for the analysis at hand. More importantly the C level executives understand excel and maybe Tableau and they do want to see the models and analysis used as their signature is required for the decisions that will be made based on the analysis presented. For machine learning and AI though its another thing- something most businesses would likely outsource to Consultants / specialized Companies into this because the decision makers likely dont understand enough to review the validity of the results and would have to rely on the reputation of the people who made the model in which case getting a branded consultancy would minimize their risk when things dont go as planned.

What do you think about dataquest, datacamp and 365datascience? Do you think they are worth doing or is it better to do the Coursera courses instead?

I'm taking the IBM Data Engineering course now. I'm about half way into it. I'm wanting to get into ML. Would you recommend Machine Learning and Deep Learning by Andrew Ng in that order?

I lost my access to my IBM account for some reasons and they just won't respond to me so I'll give IBM a pass.

My whole purpose is to get into NLP for my own project, but I want to lay a strong foundation.
