i can not install windows 11 on my vmware it said this pc can not run windows 11

I know for a fact that the defaultuser0 collision detection has existed at least since Windows XP (probably even earlier), because one time I managed to corrupt the file permissions on my system drive, so it logged me into a temp user, but due to the broken permissions, it wasn't able to delete the temp user folder, so it would basically just create a new folder in the same format (username.pcname) and if I did it again, it would also add a number at the end (e.g. defaultuser0.PCNAME.001 or something like that)

What would happen if after changing everything else to use the new directory you created a link from C:\Windows to the new directory? Would everything work as normal and if yes what would happen if after setup is done you deleted the link and tried to boot

Considering that you were able to make this mostly work by merely editing registry hives, it shows how badly a lot of the low level windows programs are designed, considering that relevant windows installation directory environment variable does indeed exist. If Microsoft wanted to fix this, they could just use a find and replace on the source code.
