Brilliant Chris. Just in the process of getting a new cocker after my retriever died. Love the way your getting down and interacting with him. The pen you made for retrieving is a great idea too. Learnt so much already. Looking forward to seeing more. Thanks. John.

Awesome videos!
I really hoped you would start a new series with a pup as I’m really looking forward to learning as much as I can before getting a pup myself closer to next summer.

I have one question though, why do you get Charlie up on your chest when delivering the retrieve?

Keep’em coming!
Cheers from Norway!

I just bought a cocker spaniel she is a 8 weeks old at the moment almost 9. I was wondering if your doing the fetching and walking in the same day or if your separating them by day.

Have you chosen a winner yet? I’m really enjoying these videos. I’ve watched Ep1 twice so far and used the retrieval section with my 10wk old cocker yesterday. Hit and miss 😂 but with patience he got there! 🎉

Picking up our dog Fin on Friday. He’s a gamekeeper bred working chocolate sprocker. I really want to do right by his working instincts, this video has been a real help. Especially the simple interactions at the start. Can’t wait to get going with him.

Great video Chris, why does he want to "cow pat" so much at this stage? or is it because he's tired?

Hi Chris, really enjoy watching your posts. We've trained our young spaniel following your posts and they helped us avoid some mistakes we made with our first dog. Very happy to have recently been placed in our first working test. Will follow you and Charlie with great interest.

Been following you for a while now, we've had our cocker for just over 5months, our first dog. We thought he was a really lucky pup, massive garden with plenty of bushes/hedgerow etc, woods across the way, fields etc for him to explore. After watching your videos we now realise this was a bad idea showing him that much world so soon. So we've now took a step back and we're back to basics in the back yard. He's still having fun but we're both learning so much everyday. 👍🏼

You always make the training look easy Chris, but we all know its not, kindness and encouragement with gentle boundaries: I don't work my dogs but your training videos have been my bible, they've given me an understanding of what to do, and what not to do. Charlie is certainty wanting to please and learn.

I don’t have spaniels I have setters and HPRs but the puppy retrieves training transfers easily. The only thing the pups are bigger and hit harder as they run into your face🤣🤣

It’s so good to see Charlie’s ‘mistakes’ as well as his great behaviour. We have a 15 week cocker we’re hoping to train to become a beating dog and it feels so reassuring to see that we aren’t alone in the hiccups we’re seeing in her, as amateurs trainers. Also great tip about putting a bit of your scent on the retrieve 👍

we watched all your training videos and its helped us training our 15 week old springer. we first found you by seeing the video you made about picking the best pup from a litter and soon as we viewed some pups we picked the one we got. so far we have seen every video you made and its helped us so much. we have also placed some orders from you and our pup loves the fur dummy and the training lead works a treat. we was amazed when we contacted you about our pup bitting and you gave us free support. as i type this out pup is sitting next to me waiting to watch another video from you .

This is brilliant Chris, I have a cocker pup of similar age and really looking forward to watching Charlie's progress and my own pups progress. My pup is the opposite to Charlie, she's extremely confident and bold, no fear at all. I'm having to watch her and how handle her carefully. I don't want to fudge it up, and I'm sure everyone else on here feels the same with their own pups / dogs. It's so important to try and do things right in the early puppy stages, and not always easy when life can be so busy.

Absolutely brilliant idea to follow puppy progress from start. I watched a lot of yours previous videos and learning every time even tho I am dog trainer myself, but in completely different sphere (sheepdogs). My grandad had Springers and I use to train some pointers in past but in our country it was done for little bit different purposes, lot or work on water.
Now after years I got spaniel again (beating will be more fun with dog) and your videos are motivating me and guiding me to improve my crazy bitch and hopefully one day we will get somewhere. Recently we are starting with hunting which is quite challenging because she notice my every movement and so I definitely have to order your light dummies because I suppose they won't make any noise when thrown? I can definitely see the point why they are your favourite as I tried few other options and nothing really worked as good yet .
Good luck with everything, wish you were bit closer to Borders for "live lesson"

We found your videos this morning and spent all morning watching through them. You've helped us understand a lot about our 6 year old rescue working cocker, why she does what she does, and how we can enrich her and keep her mentally stimulated as well as physically. Looking forward to more of your vlogs. Charlie is gorgeous!

Hi, new spaniel owner here. Enjoy your straight forward approach to training. One question I have been asking myself is around the way you praise your dog. A lot of it seems to be around the mouth and nose area and in quite a calm fashion. Is there any particular reason for this?

Thanks for sharing everything with us. Its really useful.

This will be a really interesting series to watch. As we're already a client we don't need a puppy pack as we already have one but hopefully the winners get good use out of them. We actually watched a lot of your videos multiple times (and still do now) as we didn't have any dog training experience before getting our Cocker.
