Embracer company is gone bust.
ОтветитьNov. 2nd it is official, some have been let go. Though STO is hopefully going to get through this as Cryptic was not specifically targeted. Wish them the best.
ОтветитьThen it's a great time to bring back the foundry.
ОтветитьIf the Dilithium/Zen exchange is any indicator, it looks as though the Open to Work hashtag has eroded the confidence of Zen buyers. It could be just a coincidence, though.
OTOH, to quote Elim Garak, "I believe in coincidences. Coincidences happen every day. But I don't trust coincidences."
A slower Dev cycle then we already have combined with the high prices for Zen and c store items would very likely kill STO, I mean looking at it right now a new player coming into the game as it currently is seeing the prices of the items in the c store and the prices of zen once they realize they need to spend cash to be competitive in STO they are going to say "nope I'm out" now you combine that with a Dev cycle where we might get two new content releases a year (one is more likely) and all of a sudden you have no new players and the existing players will get bored and leave or just stop spending money on the game.
ОтветитьI AM glad you did address the issue . . .
ОтветитьOh, man. I earnestly hope there's nothing to this. I hope I at least have a chance to get my event campaign ship first and fly it around some.
ОтветитьI hope everyone keeps their jobs, and we can keep fully enjoying STO. I guess the best we can do is keep playing.
ОтветитьSto 2? 😂 life time subs get moved over!
ОтветитьWhen you restructure you either keep your winners to help pay your debt or sell them off to pay debt. Just shutting down doesn't benefit you in any way. Cryptic should survive, but who knows in what form. This assumes that Cryptic is doing as well as they claim.
ОтветитьI've been playing sto since 2015, and would hope the game continues; however I've been playing other games as well, so I have a contingency place if such scenario becomes reality.
ОтветитьUsually I wait until I have the money before I start buying stuff.
ОтветитьOr worse....they're going to be replaced by new people.
ОтветитьMicrosoft can buy it
ОтветитьAfter the gameprint license ending I was not expecting this
ОтветитьBe disappointing they should make the game available offline with what we have already
ОтветитьEverybody go buy stuff
ОтветитьKilling of STO is a terrible idea considering it's the only real star trek game and all of the shows releasing as of late
ОтветитьSTU,
ITS LOOKING PRETTY BAD FOR GAMERS RIGHT NOW. BIOWARE GAVE SWTOR TO BROADSWORD AND THERE DOING ALOT OF P.R. ( PUBLIC RELATIONS ) NOW CRYPTIC IS DOING THIS.
Why don’t they just go back to weekly or monthly subscription? From my point of view, I can’t afford the big lump sum for a lifetime subscription (especially if they are going to shut down now ) or somehow let us pay it off. Maybe this influx of money would help.
ОтветитьI think Cryptic should say something, address this - I'm very hesitant to spend money on the game like I do often otherwise.
I feel very sorry for anyone who has to look for work - that sucks
Violition had become a hated company for what they did to the Saints Row IP. STO seems to be alive and well since i have come back to the game in the last month or two
ОтветитьWelp, If STO is at least self sustaining financially, it likely won't get shut down. Though there probably won't be any investments into developing further content for it when people get laid off, meaning maintenance mode is likely at some point. At least until Cryptic is acquired by a new company. But maybe development will just get outsourced somewhere cheaper, with only the core devs remaining? After all, STO profits come mainly from ship and bundle sales.
Needless to say, i wouldn't recommend investing in a lifetime subscription.
Also, better expect a lot of games, projects and game companies to go belly up going forward, as the economy worsens and disposable income dries up. The entire gaming industry is going into a major correction event, as is the entertainment industry as a whole.
You don't lose a billion dollars and NOT lay people off.
ОтветитьDang STO sounds like it worse off than Neverwinter.
ОтветитьSounds like Cryptic needs some serious competition regardless or it's going to stagnate and die...
ОтветитьHope the dev's aren't too demoralized. Nice touch with no outro music Stu. This could be serious. Sets the mood well.
ОтветитьI don't know if I can watch this video right now because the anxiety of losing STO is just too high. The only thing I'll say is that with the sales going on right now, I think right now is the perfect time to prove the viability of the game by putting money into it. If you're able to do that and enough people are able to show in real time that it is profitable enough, then that could help convince Embracer not to ax it.
I'm wishing Kael, the developers, and this community the best and hoping that this won't be the end for the game and their livelihoods.
Tbf, Star Wars The Old Republic has a very similar situation in terms of it's dev cycle, getting the odd story content here and there but nothing that leaves you wanting to play more and more of it
ОтветитьI watched vids of both triz and Spencer suggesting it was possible it could happen, I agree with another comment this company has been making money and it would be unintelligent to lay off a large amount of staff at Cryptic. Maybe Kaels just playing it safe by putting his name out there since nobody wants to be unemployed. Hoping for the best for everyone!
ОтветитьEdit: So be it.
Ответитьmicrosoft should buy gearbox/cryptic
ОтветитьEmbrace the AI people 🫵
ОтветитьI say what I did on Casuals channel I thought SWTOR was the game I had to worry about😞
Ответитьyeah it would be beyond dumb to mess with a stable money maker…but so far Embracer has been proving that they ain't smart, so time will tell.
ОтветитьNothing is eaten as hot as it is cooked. Roughly translated German saying. Means calm down, wait til we get more info.
Don't make your day worse by speculating over stuff right now. Saints row may have been the bigger name but the Last game sadly was trash Sono wonder they got axed. If they ax a live service game they have to make an announcement in time, than we still can grab pitchforks, batleths and magnesium flares to save STO or whoever may go.
Never underestimate the incompetence of management. If it makes sense, it is logical, it will save time and money in the long run don't do it. On the other hand, if it makes sense to anyone with logic or common sense, it will cost more money in the long run and it will make things worse, DO IT, DO IT NOW and GET IT DONE NOW DAMN IT!!!! That is modern western management mindsets so congrats embracer executives and management you are incompetent!
ОтветитьI really loved this game. However, it's become a transactional game and pay to win mechanic game. Luckily I have a lifetime sub.
ОтветитьI really hope they don't shutdown, I've really enjoyed player sto plus it's play a big part in my captain's log's
ОтветитьI doubt that too much will happen to Sto, it's a big money maker and shouldn't have too much happen to it. If they DO, however, I imagine the community will be very angry at Embracer. The real issue might just come from the community
ОтветитьCryptic need to now come out and inform STO players what is the future for the game, are they going to continue with STO in its current form? or are they going to shut the game down?
ОтветитьSomeone needs to tell the mods at r/sto to chill out. They're squashing threads and heavy-handedly policing anyone asking about this very same topic.
ОтветитьIt's really hard to tell. We wish there was more to know about what was or is going on.
