I'd like a video on walk-in-tubs.
ОтветитьGreat point
ОтветитьTotally impractical and really for show only. I've installed dozens of these and personally would never put one in my own house. They did get me to retirement a little sooner though.
ОтветитьHow come I never see any free-standing soaker tub manufacturer include a safety grab bar around the top edges for ease of entry? They can be as beautiful as anyone would like. Surprised a safety organization and/or AARP hasn't gotten involved over the years. Who hasn't heard of seniors falling in the tub?
ОтветитьI love these tubs, but so often no one discusses the additional weight of the tub, plus water and a person or persons, and making sure the existing structure (in the case of a remodel) can handle the load. The most annoying thing to me is that a great deal of money can be spent for the look, but often towel bars and more importantly, grab bars are left out of the equation. I had several bad falls as a young woman that would have kept me unable to use a tub such as these for a fairly long period of time. One doesn't need to be elderly to slip and fall, and it is so annoying, in this era of some gorgeous, non-institutional looking grab bars, that the majority of installations I have seen are completely lacking in this regard.
ОтветитьAdd to that... the fact they are SO impractical, they will be dated in less that a decade. In my opinion, they are a fad much more than an upgrade... Thank you very much for that video. Last fad: a glass freestanding tub at about 25K US$. I tried to talk my clients out of this idea, to no avail...
Ответитьokay, i'm old and stodgy and irritable.. but jeez louise!!! For goodness sake, can't you find a human to do your voiceovers? I never made it past the second criticism, though having started construction fifty years ago (literally), I think I'm able to deal with the downsides of the tub choice my wife has made. I came here hoping to get a little technical help. Nicely done video, though.
ОтветитьI'm halfway into a total bathroom renovation which includes a free-standing soaker tub. I think I've anticipated all the negatives pointed out in the comments to the great video but have yet to decide where to put the grab bars plus, because I have a small alcove in which to fit the tub, I've told my contractor that I want the tub partially surrounded. That will give me a shelf for shampoo, soap, etc.... plus, the filler valve and handheld shower and I won't have to worry about cleaning behind the tub. I'm hoping that my contractor will be able to deal with the partial surround but I've made a note of Groysman's contact info. in case I need him to intervene.
ОтветитьUseless commentary
ОтветитьWish we had bought sooner
ОтветитьCan freestanding tubs be installed on 2nd floor where there is no access to underfloor?
ОтветитьShoot I am having a hard time even finding a house with a tub in the primary. Giant showers instead. What I would like to know is the cost of a remodel changing from a giant shower to a regular sized shower and separate tub. House hunting now and this has been a real problem because I don't shower EVER and don't want to traipse upstairs to a kids bathtub to take a bath every night.
ОтветитьI came here because I’ve been looking for houses with free standing tub and now thinking of having one installed myself. I wanna soak myself every night
ОтветитьLooks great but impractical for use. How do you step into a wet bowl? Who takes a bath? Just buy a hot tub!
ОтветитьDo your own voiceover...
ОтветитьI’ve always hated getting in & out of free standing bathtubs. They’re pretty to look at, but most I’ve tried are also uncomfortable to soak in. When I stay at a hotel that has one, I’m always disappointed.
ОтветитьPainful getting in and out of the damn things
ОтветитьAnd you cannot sit on the on the top of it ,I like to sit on the top then undress and slide in the warm water.
ОтветитьThe voice seems real authentic. Appreciate the lack of good information. Useless.
