I'm a Bangladeshi, and I reject many of the oft-repeated wisdoms here. The 21st February "language revolution" is an utter farce. Don't we have a Bengali name for the month of February? We even have 26th of March and 16th December as independence days. If we were so concerned with language, then why do we en masse consume Hindi content from Bollytrash? Why are we so infatuated with speaking in English? If a nation is serious about its future, they it has to accepts the goods and bads of its history; not whine about being the victim even after 52 years of independence.
