Love the tutorial, but I have a question. I've imported the Sherwin Williams color palette to PS so I can show clients what their color options might look like. Rather than trying to match using the adjustment sliders, what's the best way to select a color from the palette? Should I make the wall a shade of gray prior to applying a color? I know this video is a few years old, do you have any tips for PS2023 to follow up this tutorial? Thank you so much!
Ответитьsooo what app is this

ОтветитьI love you ❤💚💙
ОтветитьThank you so much for this!
ОтветитьI can't get it the colour to change to white without it being some kind of other colour and not just white. Any suggestions on how to get this to work to change coloured walls to cream white or pearl white walls?
ОтветитьThank you very much. You are a really good instructor!!!!!!
ОтветитьThis is a really useful video!! Exactly what i needed for my image.
ОтветитьGreat tutorial, just want to ask: would there be any difference in doing this by creating a vector mask than a shape mask?
ОтветитьThank you!
Ответитьdo you have classes on virtual staging only for beginners on photoshop?
ОтветитьHi Jesus, how do i do this to an exterior house that is painted in light cream color, since the color will not stick to the light colors. I tried to changing the image mode to Lab Color but still not working. i can send you my picture and the color that i want to try on if you want to play with it.
ОтветитьFor some reason, I can't make the wall into a specific color I need. The original color of the wall is pink. I need it to be a specific color of blue.
ОтветитьBrilliant video .Thanks

ОтветитьThank you so much for this great informative tutorial! would you kindly make another video about how to paint the white walls in Photoshop?
ОтветитьWhat if we want to change a wall to white? It seems like I can't quite get white when I want to. It gives me just a lighter version of the color behind it.
Ответить"although I've called it a layer mask"
ОтветитьThank you. This is very helpful.
ОтветитьBeautiful work!
ОтветитьYou are a modern hero!
ОтветитьJesus
Ответить👍🏼👎🏼
ОтветитьThanks
Ответитьthanks for this analysis. v interesting.
ОтветитьGreat job using the Pen tool and Curves for masking. Let me share (2) methods for painting walls from a sample swatch color, which might be useful in color decisions..
Painting the wall from a color swatch:
--------------------------------------
There are two methods (note, method (1) is less layers):
(1) Use Replace Color to obtain the HSL from an HSB sample.
-------------------------------------------------------
- Load a sample color from a Paint Swatch photo or scan, that is the
desired paint color to use (ie: Dress Blues: HSB = 216,53,38).
- Make a small selection box in the center of the sample color image and
fill the selection box with pure white.
- Use Image->Adjustment->Replace Color and sample the white box with the
Eyedropper tool.
- Select the 'Result' swatch (which is white) to bring up the
Color Picker dialog box.
- Enter the desired HSB values (or RGB). ie: Dress Blues: HSB = 216,53,38
- Note the Replace Color dialog box HSL values +144,+36,-72
(offsets from white are absolute HSL values).
- Cancel the Color Picker and the Replace Color dialog boxes.
- Switch to your wall photo and select the background image.
- Now add a Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer.
- Add your wall mask to the new Adjustment layer.
- Select the Layer thumbnail, and in the Properties tab, check the
'Colorize' box.
- Enter the HSL values (noted above) and the paint color will be replaced
in the masked selection area.
- Return to the background layer.
(2) Make a Solid fill Layer w/ Mask blended with multiply.
------------------------------------------------------
- Create a new Hue/Saturation Layer.
- Load a mask selection for the wall of interest.
- Desaturate by moving the Saturation slider all the way left.
- Make a Solid fill Layer w/ the same mask selection for the wall.
Enter the HSB value for the new wall color.
(ie: Dress Blues HSB = 216,53,38)
- Set the blend mode to 'multiply'.
- Group the two layers for sanity.
You are so right: elegant methods! been a while since I've seen this tutorial. Didn´t know that "blend as group" feature and I found it really useful and nice.
ОтветитьWhen I choose the color, my wall color is purple but not your blue. please explain.
ОтветитьDude, you have a great tutorial. But, please, slow down! You speak as if you are on a timer. I have rewinded more times than I can count JUST in the first five minutes of your speed-run!
ОтветитьTime codes are awesome
ОтветитьYes Bravo ! Bravo..thanks so very much for this
ОтветитьHi Jesús. My brain aches, watching this!
ОтветитьHello Jesus Ramirez.
Firstly Congratulations on dong such a fantastic job of teaching PS to so many photographers and helping them navigate through the many labyrinths of the software….. one step at a time.
Managed to visit your channel yesterday while surfing and it was such a pleasant surprise.
With regards to this particular tutorial – have almost zero knowledge in the pen tool. Therefore tried to adapt and gain from this tutorial by using the 'Lasso Tool'. The steps which I undertook -
1] after making the selection (via lasso tool) chose a new Solid Colour fill layer. This also helped me skip the step of combine shapes
2] Changed the blending mode of the Solid Colour fill layer to ‘colour’
3] Then I created a levels adjustment layer and deleted the mask from the levels adjustment layer.
4] Created a new levels adjustment mask based on the solid colour’s mask (via Control Click).
5] Linked the solid layer and the adjustment layer. NOT via clipping.
Now when I change the selection in the solid layer via Transform method the mask of the adjustment layer also changes shape accordingly because both the layers are linked. This is to ensure the step you mention starting Timeline 9.28 minutes.
This method also helps me eliminate the steps of going into Layer Style window and un-checking the ‘Blend Clipped Layers as Group’.
Feel this method would help those who are not familiar with the pen tool but are more conversant with the lasso tool. Would also appreciate your feedback whether this method helps to reach the same destination that you had intended.
One minor drawback which I noticed – this method is good when one is only transforming the selection. If another area is being added via lasso tool then both the masks will need to be painted white in the newly added area. Similarly if any area needs to be subtracted then that area needs to be selected and painted black in both the masks.
Thank you.

wow man, thank you so much for this tutorial. This will save a lot of arguing at my family. We can simply sit infront of the computer and choose the exact shade of color we want for every area of the house.
ОтветитьThat was Jesus at his absolute best! Great Tute.
ОтветитьHow about using the Color Range tool to more accurately select the color you wish to change?
Ответитьit is complex !!
i think there are more simple ways to do this easly !
Can this editing be done for a video clip?.
ОтветитьWhat's the advantage of creating the vector object? Does not color blending a solid fill layer, attaching a levels layer to that and then creating a layer mask do the same thing?
ОтветитьDon't write comments much but I would like to say that your teaching style is exceptional and very thorough. Your delivery is perfect. This is a very complete and well done video. I am subscribing, liking and anything else I can do for you I would!!!! Keep up the very very very good work Jesus!
