From this video I learned that ideas should be paired with innovation management tools like business model canvas because a good business idea doesn’t mean that you have a good business model. Because there is a possibility of your idea to fail if it doesn’t have a good business model that is scalable and financially sustainable. Every business idea needs a great structure to grow and to have the best structure you have to work on your business model because failure in doing that can lead to the failure of your idea. Thats why you need to map, manage, and plan your business model

"A great idea needs a great business model, and they are not the same thing" This is a great line, as an entrepreneur student, it is astounding to learn everything that must go into a business model that will take a business into the higher levels of success. Most of it is preparing and talking over with your customers, partners or anyone who may affect your business. You could have a great idea but if you don't think through the journey before it happens, it may fail because you are unprepared for the journey.

It is so important to be able to pair your venture idea with the correct model to succeed. A great way to do that is through a business model canvas, like what Strategyzer provides. It allows you to keep track of all facets of your business, and find out what areas need more attention as well as what you are already doing well in. As the video says, if your business model doesn't scale well with your business success, then it will inevitably fail anyway. This is why your business should be paired with a management tool.

This truly highlights the importance of being fully aware of the marketplace one wants to get involved with before even beginning a venture. Many passionate inventors and entrepreneurs enter the marketplace before they even begin to truly understand what it takes to be successful, and unfortunately fail despite having all of the passion and drive needed to do so, many even having an excellent product. Entrepreneurs should study the business models of successful companies which they will be competing with to understand the financials behind their success and how their solution interfaces with its customers to not only solve their problem, but also bring financial success. A business model canvas is the start of any such study and is absolutely essential for new entrepreneurs who want to find their niche.

It is import that we pair a new venture idea with an innovation management tool. Because we might have many challenges after we start up our entrepreneurial career with our ideas. An innovation management tool can help us to find out what are the challenges we will face and make reasonable plans to overcome. It can help us to management our program and avoid financial problems. Just like the video shows that a great idea will not 100% make you success and it should be paired with a great business mode. When your idea meets the world, there are people who may do not care your idea at all and even some of them like your idea, it can fail because of financial problems and bad business modes.

This series is criminally under-rated. It is very well-thought out and brilliantly executed. I especially liked how they illustrated the process of pivoting from a low-cost airline targeted at boomers to a different business model of retirement accommodation for boomers. Inspirational indeed!

ASU venture devils here. This video is very important in highlighting the difference between a good idea and a successful venture. At the heart of this difference is the presence of a good business model. A good business model must be tailored to the value proposition of the business idea. It should be highly organized and stand up to thorough examination. A value proposition canvas, which is visually referenced in the video, helps to organize the customers needs with what the business idea can provide to create a good business model. Since following through with a venture can be a tumultuous process, it is wise to organize it as best as one can. The business model and value proposition canvas are an integral part of this. We have used this in our process and will continue to do so to solidify our path forward.

Without thorough planning any idea no matter how appealing their value proposition is can fail. Any tool that can help organize your idea and assist in creating an entire business model can be invaluable but not knowing where to start can also be just as deadly. I think this video does a nice job putting in perspective the many steps your business can fail in. Making sure your business can scale and maintaining a sustainable infrastructure are key but the planning behind all that is what will really help the business evolve and adapt.

As a non-business savvy student, it can be pretty intimidating to enter the world of entrepreneurship. I'm an engineering major and I often like to think of ways in which something can be improved or designed. Maybe one day in the future, these skills will lead to a business opportunity. Say this happens - it might be easy to get caught up in the idea and the excitement of something new. Without a solid business model or a clear definition of who the end users/ target audience is, the product venture will fail. But as a (someday) engineering professional how do I know what defines a good business model? Making sure the business is scalable with steady growth, creating value for the end user, and understanding tracking progress should all be considered before diving into a new business venture. Without at least outlining or developing an initial business strategy, that great idea or product will just become a great mistake.

From the video, I learned a lot.

I understand if we want to develop our market, we need to do costumer survey, and know what do they really need, we want to know things with many details. Like different age range have different preferences. When we have those data, we can analyze and design goods for specific group.

I also learned we need have a planted business model when we have a great idea. We need make people interested to our idea, let them know our idea can improve their life, and find financial support to develop our idea, or it will fail because we don’t have money. We also need find a good channel to let costumer understand why is our product great, and make they want to have it. We also need build an organized structure to hold and maintain our business keeps growing.

Comeon people they have a variant of a business canvas (an old technique) they want to flog as their invention .. The only business they have is glossy graphs about how to make virtual business works - how are they experts on something they've never done?

if you look at the individual views of the entire 6 episode series, you can have these insinuations...
1) Startups are started out of a lot of enthusiasm.(max. views on 1st ep.)
2) not many survive till the end. (views decreasing till 5th episode).
3) Many of them are more focused and fantasize of the final outcome than the process itself. (more views on the 6th/last episode "Telling your story" than 5th ep. "Proving it")...

I just finished watching the 6 episodes and this series is really great for beginners! This first episode was a true eye opener for me. It really sunk in that I just have an idea, and even if it’s a great idea, it doesn’t mean anything. There are many great ideas that fail, or won’t become anything without a business model. With my current business, I didn’t start off with a business model. Although reflecting back, if I would have started off with a business model, I could have avoided many problems. Going into a new venture, I plan on dedicating as much time as need into creating a business model. In one of the later episodes, it was mentioned that you shouldn’t stick to your first business model. That you should keep adapting it as you figure out things. That’s a great tip!

When a new idea meets the world, there would be lots of problems in many ways, like the attitude of customer, the available customer source, and build a successful business structure to make it grow up. And the business model can help us to find the right way to overcome the above problems or challenges. Business model allow us to discover it, manage it and plan for it. It is a simple tool that we can use to make stress tests on our new idea, track our process, and avoid breaking the bank. In my opinion, there are some coexistence of risk and innovation. So if we want achieve our new venture, we need set up a basic model to prepare for all kinds of difficulties and challenges before the new idea meet the world. In this way, we can avoid loss and expand the interests.

Everybody has good ideas but almost of the times this it's just of the beginner and if you we don't have a good business model even with a good idea we can't achieve the success. Everyone that has a good idea and fail almost all the times it's because they don't plan their business, the part most difficult it's always to run your idea, this help me a lot and totally shift my mind. I always have good ideas but I didn;t thought about my business plan, now with FSE 394 I can think, and with my ideas I can be a successful entrepeneur
