F7 is missing :D
ОтветитьWell, the Achilles heel of the keyboard is that you can only press 2 buttons at a time...
Other than that, I would love to use it to this day.
who bankrupt Ibm though, dell maybe
ОтветитьIm 13 but i like it it looks quality
Ответитьngl the older vids slap a bit harder than the new ones, i love the slow paced educational vibe :)
ОтветитьCrazy to see how much better linus has gotten at hosting/acting
ОтветитьI've definitely seen these keyboards erroneously called mechanical keyboards for sure. I think pseudo-mechanical would be a better term for these
Ответитьi think i needed to watch this at 2x speed lol
ОтветитьDoesnt the buckling spring also count it as a mechanical keyboard as well? Membrane with a mechanism.
Ответитьlinus reviewing modern mechanical kb: wears tshirt, dad shorts, and sandals.
linus reviewing mechanical kb that are older than half of his viewers: thomas shelby attire.
I like you Dumb and Dumber haircut!
ОтветитьWas Linus copying Steve Jobs in looks and presentation style in this video?
Ответитьyou look like a bisexual steve jobs.
Ответитьwhen I built my own pc for when I am visiting my parents, I bought a little older MB from ebay and noticed it had a connector for older keyboards. My dad has always worked as a programmer, and I hated the feel of the cheap gaming keyboard I took from my old PC setup at home. So, I tried to connect it to my MB, and DAMN does typing feel good now! Also I am sure my dad spilled coffee over it multiple times since I had to clean up all the stains the last few days lol. And it's still working just fine! And this thing is at LEAST 23 years old. The only thing a little dated feeling is the space key. Understandably so. This'll definitely be my keayboard until I'm getting a new one :D
ОтветитьIBM Model M.
Was the best, is still the best and there will none be better in the future.
. . .
Self-confessed and convinced IBM Model M user.
I wish LTT would make videos with this great production quality and aesthetics again.
ОтветитьGod damn, Linus's presenting skills really have gone up in 5 years.
I don't remember what the video streaming thing was called that payed for the office, but rewatching the LMG headquarters tour from 2015 he even dropped an entire octave (idk if that's the right term) in speaking tone lol I never noticed
He went from a nasally high-pitched tone to a more mellow lower-pitch tone. As someone who got used to the wrong tone/pitch for my vocal chords when talking and is in the process of relearning it, that's impressive
No hate don't take this the wrong way Linus, love the channel but it's almost like you got puberty 20 years too late with the fact that you also grew a beard due to covid xD
Also yes I hit em with the xD, something about having had an emo phase and something about glass houses lol
mf new this video was gonna be timeless
Ответитьhaha I like your brown jacket! It suits the age of the keyboard you are introducing.
Ответитьvery nice! goed gedaan!?!
ОтветитьInternational Business Machines Corp. Model M with Buckling Spring Switches
ОтветитьYou think that's heavy? I had the steel cased version with two rows of function keys.
It was huge and weighed more than some people's PCs.
I gave it away to a friend who had a damaged nervous system, as she was constantly breaking normal keyboards and this was the only thing that would stand up to her heavy typing.
They are nice, but I still prefer the black Cherry 2000 series USB keyboard with brown switches I bought from a call centre.
LIking this video and writing this comment on a 1993 PS2 IBM Model M. Is not a keyboard, is a weapon. The built in PS2 cable in mine was falling apart, so I opened and wired a new cable. Was thinking on installing the PS2 to USB adapter inside, but for now is outside(laptop side).
ОтветитьThat patent has a poetic industrial romanticism. "He pressed upon her switch with delicate yet purposeful compression. Her knees buckled catastrophically."
ОтветитьThere Are Some Keyboards That Make You Work/Type At Your Best.
The Most Expensive Keyboard I Bought For Myself Is This Mechanical/Gaming One.
When I Used It In My Office, My Manager And Other Colleagues Complained About It Because Of Its Noise.
Had To Shop For A Cheaper Mechanical Keyboard That Makes Less Noise.
I love my model M PC-122 model UB40B5A from unicomp. born April 28 2021. I had Ms and Fs before, this one feels a little less mechanical, but the one-stroke one key-event is still just as good. it was $120 including s/h. best 120 I've spent for UI equipment.
Ответитьour house, in the middle of the
ОтветитьImagine buying one in 2017 everybody will say it’s super cringe,Keyboard:”look at me now I’m used by you” but in conclusion i will say it is the 🐐 of keyboards
ОтветитьI was curious about what all the hype was. Have been using mech keyboards for 5+ years and have used many boards, so I was curious why everyone loves these. They always just looked old and outdated. However, hearing it's a tactile and 2-key rollover board 🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
ОтветитьThis video put a seed on me. After some years saving money and going trough life, I purchased one of those Unicomp keyboards (I am typing on it). I am the same age as Linus, but never owned a model M, just used it ocasionally. I am from the "I don't feel a difference" field. Maybe I was lucky, as I had no issues with it, but in any case, this is the best keyboard I ever owned. No regrets purchasing it (I heard some people had trouble with keys, but not my case). I friggin love the feeling, the sound, the looks and the weight.
ОтветитьYou forgot to sing the ibm company song
ОтветитьNever forget that this video is why nobody can afford a model M
ОтветитьThis has a very strong Technology Connections feel to it.
ОтветитьI just bought an IBM M series board along with a PS/2 mouse and surprisingly the motherboard I have still uses the old connections for the mouse and keyboards. I got a decent deal for the pair and also got a surprise item, a Cat optical reader, which was not originally listed on the sellers page with the board and mouse. All work surprisingly well and so far no issues as of yet. I have the optical reader plugged in with the keyboard since it had a ps2 split connection and have no clue what I would use it for, but it's awesome either way. The mouse is the old one with only 2 switches that are spaced apart and has the roller ball on the bottom. Had to max the cursor sensitivity to the max lmao. Though the IBM board is not truly mechanical like my Blackwidow Ultimate, it's still an awesome board and I'm loving it and I plan on using this as my main. Hope you'll make another video on IBMs.
PS: I'm currently typing all this with the IBM board

ОтветитьModern Linus would actually look more credible in the outfit.
Ответить"Nothing Compares... Nothing Compares 2 U" - Linus to his Model M.
ОтветитьMore cheaper? is that Canadian English? There is Cheaper not 'more cheaper' but good try Linus!
ОтветитьI have this keyboard got it from a guy out of his basement while looking for termites. I'm a pest control technician.
Ответитьthat means is half membrane and mechanical
