It almost sounds silly that they make sure the inmate doesn't commit suicide. Like , why can't you choose to off yourself ?. I know I know there's reasons why it's not legal ,but it's strange.

Americans are, on one hand, caring for executing inmates humanely and least painfully but ignoring, on the other hand, conclusions from numerous autopsies performed on bodies of the inmates executed by the lethal injection showing that this is probably one of the most horrific ways to go, being compared to drowning. The lethal injection (causing the pulmonary edema no matter what the protocol is) is still the most widely-used method.

Horrific to watch but important. And they are doing this 2023.

When UK still had capital punishment, the inmate on death row had to wait 3 weeks from their sentence to be executed, unless the gov needed to postpone it to a later date. In France until 1981 (with the last one took place in 1977 by guillotine) a last meal isn’t served as the inmate is told that they are going to be executed in just a few mins so they just get a small glass of wine & a cigarette. Oh there was one time when an inmate on Texas’ death row started singing Silent Night during the execution by lethal injection.

These murderers should consider themselves lucky. In a lot of countries there is instant mob justice and they are burned alive or hacked to death with machetes. Here they get to live another 15 years with rights and privileges.

i watched this documentary years ago. Executioner Jerry Givens passed away in April of 2020 due to covid. he was 67.

Makes me wonder if we should really play God on these. I know they did terrible things but still concerns me. That poor man wrongly convicted is heartbreaking

I can’t understand how we, as a nation, condones the formal, ritualized death of our people.

All the ways to kill it in the fridge crime is definitely a bullet in the head, electrocution the gas chamber too friggin cruel and expensive using Benjamin Franklin's invention to kill somebody. I think a bullet is good enough.
