So many videos show HOW leads are generated.
But not many videos about WHEN leads are generated..
Today we’re combining AI and GA4 in a step-by-step process for analyzing the timing of your leads. But because Google Analytics doesn’t make this kind of conversion analysis easy (at all) we’re going to export the data and give it to ChatGPT.
It’s a fun AI trick because it’s based on visits to a thank you page, not conversions. You don’t need to have key event tracking set up. And it’s all based on the “Date + hour” dimension which has never been useful to me until the era of AI.
We’ll start with lead generation timing analysis, but do several other types of analyses:
🔷 0:50 When do visitors become leads? Conversion timing analysis by day of week and time of day.
🔷 3:29 When do visitors subscribe to your newsletter? Signup timing analysis using a heatmap matrix.
🔷 5:05 When do visitors watch your videos? Event timing analysis (in this example: discover when visitors watch your videos)
🔷 5:39 A quick through about best practices vs. analysis using your own data
🔷 6:00 How long does it take for visitors to become leads? Time lag analysis for lead gen by traffic source
That last one will show you how many days after their first visit it took for the visitor to become a lead. It uses a GA4 exploration with several dimensions. But this one requires that your lead generation event is tracking properly because we’ll filter based on the name of that event.
This is also an interesting demo of AI-powered analysis of GA4 data. It shows how to both analyze and visualize data exported from Google Analytics, including the quick clean-up process of removing unnecessary rows and columns to create better structured data to go with your AI analysis prompts.
