Question: when he says “shut the lid loosely”, assuming the first gust or storm will immediately displace a loose lid, would an appropriate alternative be a firm but partially open lid or shut tightly? Lol
ОтветитьWhen you mulch with grass clippings, does it not put grass seed (or seeds from anything else growing with your grass) into your garden beds?
ОтветитьCan pokeweed be used in making Jadam? It is a poisonous, herbaceous plant native to the gulf coast of the U. S. It contains phytolaccine. What about other poisonous plants such poisonous ivy. Thanks.
ОтветитьGreat information. What will happen if we put a little of every plant; it leaves, fruits, roots etc, in one container and just use it on all the diffetent plants?
ОтветитьIs the heat in the summer a problem for the microbes?
ОтветитьCan this be left out in cold weather and allowed to freeze and thaw in the spring. will it still be viable?
ОтветитьWhere do you get those blue containers?
ОтветитьWould natural spring water be hard or soft? I have a natural spring that I pump and reserve in IBC totes to help it stay warm, is that okay?
ОтветитьI have a question regarding Jadam going unaerobic. If the goal is getting the nutrients out through the soaking, why let them go unaerobic? I'm torn between Dr Elaine Ingham's insistence on using only aerobic stuff and the undeniably compelling testimony of Jadam users.
ОтветитьHuw. thank you so much for referring to the Jadam system. I’ve just bought the book and I’m so thrilled and inspired with Cho’s whole philosophy and techniques of bringing farming back to the farmer. I’m and tiny garden farmer and loving it. Thank you for your continued videos . So helpful and well done. J.
ОтветитьI need some advice. I placed 2 handfuls of leaf mould on top of my bucketful of (well cut) nettles in a bit of rain water & it doesn’t smell at all a week later. I did the same with my wild garlic leaves - submerge them in a bit of water with 2 handfuls of leaf mould from the forest behind my home & cover. But the (albeit uncrushed) wild garlic jadam tea smells strongly a week later. Why isn’t my jadam nettle tea smelly? It just smells like strong spinach & definitely not unpleasant in any way. Have I done something wrong?
ОтветитьCould this help my olive trees?
ОтветитьHi Huw, I have liquid fertilizer in my backyard but it is producing a lot of little insects, and breeding mosquitos. They fly out when I open the lid. I see the little insects in my house now too and I am sure it is contaminating my neighbors yard as well. Do you have recommendation on how to prevent this?
ОтветитьJLF with grass only good for the lawn???
ОтветитьIsn't this very acidic?
ОтветитьIf I have a small garden with a variety of crops I'd prefer one universal jadam. Altough I understand the advantages of plant specific jadams it would be just too much to have more different types of jadam.
ОтветитьHuw, what sort of lid system, if any, do I need for my JLF buckets?
ОтветитьI followed one of your videos and made brandnetel tea. I made it last year november and I have it kept in a plastic container. But my God the smell. Which you warned of. But sometimes I wonder if it’s still safe to use. Can’t get over that smell 😷
ОтветитьThe book never specified to leave lid loose or how when fermenting begins it doesn't blow the lid off ??
ОтветитьWhat happens if you don't dilute the JLF? Does it burn the plant?
ОтветитьI have almost 3 gallons of comfrey water that I made last fall. It is almost all broken down. Wow does it stink. I also have stinky banana water breaking down nicely. Oh and almost a gallon of house plants breaking down. Wow allot of stinky water in the. basement for now.
ОтветитьMy husband complains of the smell so I time apply the JLF before expected rain and the smell simmers down.
Ответитьwhat do you do when you live in a cold climate where it freezes at least 6 or 7 months of the year??
ОтветитьHi Huw, I watched your fab video some time ago and made up a bucket of Jadam which has been brewing for around 4-5 months now. I've just done a test for NPK and pH using a kit I got on Amazon (so not necessarily all that accurate but a start, at least), and got these results:
N - negligible (extremely pale pink)
P - high (dark blue)
K - medium (orange)
pH 7.5 alkaline
Would this still be okay in this form as a liquid feed or would I need to amend it, and if so, what would you recommend? I'm looking to use it as a general feed for my veg so nothing specific (also actually using some of it in a kratky hydroponic tank and the lettuce and watercress seem more than happy).
It's been made with a mix of tomato and pepper plants, beans, comfrey, and leaf mould from my local forest just 5 mins walk away.
Many thanks
Claire
I am new in the allotment and there is only tap water... 😢 What can I do for softened it? 🤔 Thank you 😚
ОтветитьHello Huw, Thank you for introducing me to the idea of Jadam liquid fertilizer. The process for making and using it is straightforward, but the thing I am struggling with as I try to get it started is the timing, getting the plants to make it first, then overwintering with freezing conditions. I find little guidance how it can be managed in colder climates, and unless I missed it it is not in any of your videos, maybe you do not experience hard freezes. Do you let it freeze and thaw to restart?

ОтветитьFeed crops with their own plant matter...this is exactly what Mother Nature does and this is why it's important to NOT rake up your leaves but leave them under the trees, to NOT rake up the pine needles, to NOT prune and rake out flower and shrubbery beds. Their own leave, needle and bark droppings are their food. And it is the best food out there.
ОтветитьWell I have only two barrels and I throw everything in them I give it a fistful of sugar I even though in fresh raw fish skins mixed it up it smells like the local police and coroner should be called I watered on to my flowers and vegetables it took to it like hens poop to a blanket everything grew so fast The smeller it is the more plants love it
You show is brilliant
God Bless
Wouldn’t you use some off the topsoil where this particular group of plants grow? This would have the particular microbes in it for this group of plants
ОтветитьYour videos are so interesting, easy to follow and inexpensive.Thankyou.i have purchased old plastic drums and hope to start in a few days .
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьI just started a 60 gal JLF for next year with some leafmold and every scrap from the garden and yard. Next year I will be more crop specific when I start my JLF. Thanks for the great video.
Ответитьlove this idea! with a very small garden could one make a general feed using all the veg one grows, instead of focusing on each individual type? I don't have the space for several buckets or barrels. Thank you for sharing this valuable method.
ОтветитьIf the issue is only chlorine or chloramine, you can get it out of your city water/tap water/"mains" water by various means. Google how long chlorine remains in water or how to get it gone from water.
Thank you, Huw, for all the wonderful information you share! We're winding down the summer gardens, but all of this information is going to be very helpful going forward, even into winter! 💚
you are a nice guy and nice videos but f** me you talk too much and get to the point mate, long videos...
ОтветитьIf i really don't have much space or containers, would 1 big mixed crop batch be worth making? I've started one that is whole tomato plants and weeds, with local Leaf Mold as well. Can i use this on all crops, even if it wont be as effective as a crop specific feed?
ОтветитьThis is great, I'm glad to see it. Please keep it up! Please, I have a question, like when should we stop applying it on plants? I mean, is there a time of the plant growth that it shouldn't be used for good harvest? Awaiting your response. Thank you
ОтветитьLove the video and the methodology. Have you thought of using Kombucha as a plant feed? I have been using kefir grains on my herbs and they grow like crazy...
ОтветитьWill the fertilizer still be ok to use if it freezes hard over the winter. Temperatures where I live dip down to -30 to 30 Celsius
ОтветитьNamaskar Dear Friend, Is it possible for U to give some directions in back yards and or in filds why U insist for making small small wooden blocks for plantation of any kind of plants. In my country ie. India. In fields we make flat platforms sum what like 5,6 inches high from ground/ fields level. We keep plots open not like what U r having. Is there any specialization in U r methods. Can U explain difrence in U r method and our method. One thing is there. That soil dosen't get spread in fields/ any loss of reach soil. Thanking U . Suhaskaka
ОтветитьHi, thanks for this vídeo and all of them actualy! Just 2 questions, I saw the dilution rates so can we keep using it after 1 year and can we top it with some more cuts or just top it with more soft water as we use it?
Thanks 🙋♂️
Huw, where can I get those blue containers that you use? It looks like they seal - might be useful for blocking out any smells. TIA
ОтветитьThank you Huw, for all your good work here.
ОтветитьBuying commercially grown bedding plants is ridiculous. It use to be reasonable to buy seedling, but now buying seedlings is so expensive as the commercial growers have pumped the prices through the roof.
ОтветитьI stumbled on this new video as I was researching if you have any videos making and using the LAB you teach us in your book. I tried to make it last week and when the first 5 days passed the smell was so horrible 😅 I didn’t know if it was ok so I poured it in the compost pile. I’m not delicate about smells of gardens and farm animals, but this really smelled horrible 😂 Was it ok? I’d love a video on it as it sounds amazing :)
ОтветитьThis is so exciting! Thank you :). I’m trying so hard to reuse as much as I can to give back to the Earth what I take from it and this is such a fantastic, and organic, way of doing that :)
ОтветитьThat doesn't make any sense. Taking the minerals from a small amount of plant will not generate any more from decomposing it.
ОтветитьI love the idea of this but does it use up all your composting material?
ОтветитьWhy can't we get decent watering cans here in the US?
Ответить
