i must have a bad seed because each swamp ive found only had one crypt i never could find multiple in a swamp

I'm at the point in the game where I have to go there (I killed the elder and got the key) I've already lost 2 gear sets and had to go back to copper mining to re-kit again so I'm very apprehensive about losing a third set to the swamp. I got caught by 2 wolves in the mountains while exploring and used literally every resource I had building a path with fence posts either side going all of the way from my base camp up the mountain to my death point. After successfully getting there I was wiped out by the ice dragon thing and it appeared at my portal and killed me every time I jumped back. I gave up on that. The second time was at the edge of the swamp while in my boat. I jumped out of it to chop down an ancient tree and was quickly set upon by a load of skeletons. I couldn't fight them because my weapons were deselected with being in the water. I built a land bridge with posts either side and used every resource I had to do it. I fell off the bridge while extending it and was set upon by angry leaches and lost my kit again. I managed to finish the land bridge to my death point in the swamp and recovered my kit (a monumental task) Maybe I'm just bad at playing it but I love it anyway.This guide is just what I need. I've died so many times, my skills are depleted to near zero.

Portal's swamps, I get the idea for the initial search of the swamp, is great to set up the swamp portal, but after that, I would say just build a portal on the roof of the crypt and it is even better. OK, to be 100% honest I am playing with mods, but you could still do this to haul everything home except the iron and then haul the iron to the ship. Ya all have fun.

why not create a new world, create a workbench and a chest and when full, log out, put all in the new world´s chest and go back. when endindg farming, go home through the portal, and bring in your inventory all from the other world

I'm never worried about losing things in the sea, everything but the boat materials float.

Thanks for this guide- I'm really enjoying this game. Just did my first crypt - only 19 scrap iron :-( - and am really benefitting from your tips. I have an amazing location for the portal near the swamp and am actually probably gonig to make a real base there. It's by the water in meadows but I have swamp, black forest, mountains and plains nearby (but not too nearby in the case of swamp and plains). There's just the small matter of a draugr village to clear out to secure the ideal location. Gonna wait to get geared up before I attempt that.

If I find any surtling spawner near a crypt I always make a small base above the crypt with a portal. Due to it's stone surface you can easily drop also a campfire there setup a bed and chests. Good spot to idle and get coal and cores while being cooking in the kitchen^^
If you raise the ground around the crypt it's totally safe against any sort of event beside drakes.

Second time the boars got wiped? That's the really good reason why a trench around the entire used stuff is the first thing I do every time. One troll event while not paying attention and the base is done. It might not be the funniest things to do in Valheim but it saves a lot of nerve wrecking moments.

First time playing the game, first island I find (after my starting one) had Black Forest next to Meadows which is next to Swamp as in a row, next to them have Mountain and Planes lol...

Great vid! I've also found sailing with roughly 16 copper bars and 5 bronze will let you build and upgrade a new forge in the swamp. Along with enough materials to make a connecting portal home (pre-setup its pair at base before leaving of course) and you have a simple and enough setup to make a satellite base in/near the swamp. Add a smelter (and maybe kiln) and you can do all of your iron crafting and upgrades at this base, without any more sailing time required. Follow other commenters' tips on extra portals between this base and the next crypt and you'll only have to waste time running with iron scrap (can also alleviate corpse run downtime). When done with crypts in this swamp area, can break the base down 100% and pack everything non-portal-able into the new longship and find another swamp/move onto mountains. Maybe a quick trip home to drop off excess iron for base-crafting if desired, as this method prioritizes crafting weapons/armor and upgrading them.

where is the abomination?

if you are mining chitin on a leviathan and it starts to sink and you still havent mined all of it, you can log out and log back in and the leviathan will reset

I got a abomination in my swamp. Killed it after a lot of tries but then spawned another one :/

You have to have all 4 pieces of troll armor to get the sneak buff fyi

I used to think fermenter are useless I thought I would be able to consume the mead straight up after making one from cauldron and actually messed up once because I brought a mead base to a boss fight and died and when I do learn how to use the fermenter (which is today) I thought I would only get 1 potion per mead so went out to make 5 fermenter after grinding a lot and a lot of bronze and fine wood and realized after that I get 6 per mead and now I have 30 posion resistance potion

ITS JULY 2022. DID THEY CHANGE THE REAPERS? I WAS MID DAY AND HAD A REAPER CHASING EM DOWN. I NEVER SAW THEM IN TEH DAY LAST YEAR WHEN I PLAYED

personally i only recommend using the eikthyr special when you need it. it doesnt last long, but its plenty long if you get into trouble and need to escape. plus if oyu raid crypts and dont use it, you can sprint back to your portal faster

You may or may not have forgotten to mention the abominations… I just happened across one and got totally destroyed lol. Had to run back to my portal and escape to prevent death. Quite a disturbingly jerk of a mob lol.

I like to make a Q4 wood club and skip the bronze mace personally

easiest way to farm leeches is to use siege breaker or later the iron hammer, the AOE effect is amazing and few good thumps squishes the leeches, no hassle or arrows needed, and relatively early you get accuse to the siege breaker it is usefull to have

The swamps is 100% my nemisis so far.. This place is so much harder for me than anything so far. I keep getting jumped by abominations, tons of leeches and can barely find any crypts. Can't wait to get out of here.

I've been looking for swamps for a whole day, found 5 of them, none of them had a crypt, im kinda getting frustrated now

Literally the third thing we encountered on our first visit to the swamp was a 2-star Draugr archer. Couldn't believe it.

I don't know how you run around in the swamp at night. I see the sun setting, I gun it.

If you're lucky, you can find scrap iron in the swamp outside of the crypt, using the stag breaker, if the stag breaker hits a tree, it will say too hard, if it hits stone, it show grey 0, meaning it hit a node of muddy scrape iron, a rare but useful spawn, pluse the stag breaker is useful for dealing with groups of drauger
and/or skeletons

There was a plains biome in between black forest and swamp I died alot lost a lot of stats 😂🤣 Recovered my loot though 🥲 I used a hoe to level the ground into a path through the waters 🤓

Haha I’m not the only person who uses tower shields I saw that sir bonezy shield on that 7 slot I’ve been solo for 94 in game days been a tank took the first two bosses as a heavy 😁

My first maps starter island has 6 mountains, 2 plains and a swamp. It's massive and the trader is on the starter island too. A bunch of black forest and good meadows locations everywhere. There's a great swamp on the island but an even better one a short ride away right next to it and a meadows. I couldn't have gotten luckier, only thing is Elder is on a different island. My base is in a meadows with swamp on one side, a big flat black forest with trader on the other with a mountain, and a swamp/plains across the river.

Got lucky my swamp is connected to the main island also snow

full troll armour burns staimina fast

Took me a long time to find turnip in the swamp aswell, when i finally saw some i ran over and jumped to it. As soon as i picked it an abominatoion came out of the ground right next to me 😂

The Root Armor is the way to in the swamps, especially at level 4. I go to the swamps at night just to kick some butt and empty out all the Crypts. Just loaded my ship with around 500 raw Iron and made a long trip back to Base.

late question but if you go lvl 1 bronce mace you could just as well go lvl 4 club you get like 5 dmg less but without using bronce at all

Am I right in thinking that I need 2 swamp keys because when I die in a crypt I will need a second key to retrieve my stuff and original key? Many thanks, subscribe d and love your videos and even jokes

what happens if you throw stuff from your inventory on the floor of the karve? does it despawn? what would happen if you pushed your cart onto the ship? i'm gonna try it and see what happens all that storage with the speed of the karve

I’ve come to find that poison resistance potions don’t really much of a difference and I’m a very new player to the game. With decent food and proper fighting.. you shouldn’t need them to be honest, so don’t focus them as a necessity for the swamp. Don’t be afraid to explore it just because you haven’t crafted those yet.
Edit: side note, portals are very very useful when it comes to exploring. The swamp isn’t always easily accessible

First pick axe is what I use through the swamp. You can repair it on the go fairly easy with a covered crafting table

Most swamp mobs are resistant to fire, so flint arrows are better. The wraith and abominations are the exceptions

Fire arrows are useless in the Swamp. [edit] they are good for the Abominations.

Hehee, I love your "you'e gonna die a few times in the Swamp" warning. I'm fairly experienced in the Swamp-craft, but still die.
