I love making beats on this dusty gem. The big thing people misunderstand is the memory card banks. Youd think get a memory card and be good, wrong. You can only play 1 pad at a time on the memory card banks, which is a real bummer. I just rock the internal A and B banks and it gets the job done. So i suggest dont worry about paying big money for a memory card.
ОтветитьAny SP or other like it workstations that work off Batteries 🔋?! ✌🏾😊
ОтветитьI payed close to 300 for the one I have 😢
Ответить200? They cost around 300 to 400 US now on ebay and Reverb
ОтветитьEver heard and Lord Beatjitsu music he does a lot with the 202
ОтветитьThis one is the most fun to use out of the them all in my opinion I've been using this the most lately the limitations make beat making even more fun in my opinion
ОтветитьYou are using it wrong.
Ответитьanyone else find it kind of ironic that the SP-202's magic was in how much creative value you could squeeze out of its limitations combined with how cheap and accessible it was to the average person, yet nowadays it's been commodified for its culturally mythologized sound and its value has inflated to over $300-400? does this remind anyone else of the same ironic fate of analog drum machines? kinda funny...
ОтветитьTHIS PLUS A L00P PEDAL DONE DEAL
ОтветитьI have the SP-202 and the DR-202.
ОтветитьKid A on the desk !!
ОтветитьThis isint really a question regarding any hardware. But I'm currently saving up for Ableton Live Intro (A little under $200 CAD), I initially wanted to get standard but I to already have most of what I need. Is going the rout for buying Ableton Intro the right way to go without spending a crazy amount of money? Is it worth it?
Ответитьafter you mentioned the prices about the SP202, i had a look into eBay and couldn't believe what i saw! indeed, the prices are +200 in comparison to the previous year! i got mine for around 250€ from Japan during Spring 2020. Now you pay 400 - 500 € !!! what is happening here ? by the way, i use the SP202 together with the DR-202 for triggering / seqencing pads on the SP202 (the Bass Pads from the DR-202 can trigger the SP202 pads), and in case i use the SP202 as standalone, then just for fireing up some pads or beats during playback of other stuff in parallel.
ОтветитьLas dos
ОтветитьTo be honest all the sp404s serve much better as an FX unit to compliment the MPC
Ответитьu just need to combine it with anything. connect midi in on sp202 & use some other deviece for drums & sequence, & play samples from 202 through midi
ОтветитьI used this in the 90s to make beats with a tascam 4 track and a radio tape player.
Ответитьnice video man. Definitely understand the limits of it if you wanna buy it but know that the only limit is yourself - loads of great tapes have been made pretty much only on the 202 - off the top of my head, Lord Beatjitzu, p00k, Riki2oh2 and jewyork all have 202 beat tapes out which are crazy creative
ОтветитьThinking about getting one with a Dr 202. I think they're supposed to work together.
Ответитьgreat video and topic—I have 2 SP202s that I’ll use together: one is just for drums, the other for samples. This is usually ineffective for workflow purposes haha but a fun challenge and test of the machine.
I love using the LOFI button on the 202 to make interludes out of loops to play before and after more thought out and fuller beats.
Love your videos man and would love to see more videos of any kind!
I think the idea was to pair it with dr groove 202 with midi when it came out. Its pretty cool to think about how people who had it when it first came out were amazed that they could throw some batteries in it and use a sampler in the wild. That's how I felt when the 404 came out. I didnt know about previous models at the time.
ОтветитьYoooooooo im gonna purchase my sp404 (og) tmr cant wait to join the sp gang 😁
ОтветитьLove the beat at the beginning, buttery ass sample.
ОтветитьBeat maker 100%. You just have to get crafty and have an old cassette deck handy to bounce back and forth to.
ОтветитьThank you for the video, SP. Hopefully Roland will listen to their customers and when they drop a new unit, they will incorporate all the effects of the newer generation SP's, but with the pitch feature that the 202 and 303 have. The pitch on the 404 series is terrible. I just checked on Ebay and the price range is from $430.00 to $567.00 for the SP202. That is beyond crazy! Blessings!
ОтветитьI bought mine when they first came out... I hated it. I kept it tho, it's only thanks to your channel that it's found a space in my studio... I use the pitch, lofi and it gets externally sequenced..
ОтветитьThe re pitch function on this thing is priceless 🍻👉🍻
Ответитьi use the 202 and the other SPs i have as effect units besides the 404 that i use also as a travel sampler.
For me the sp 202 is a sampler with deep limits when you want to make beats on it and its a pain (for me)
My very first
sampler.
Dope vid yo can u make a video about your evolution as a beatmaker
ОтветитьWith the same money you can cope a Zoom sampletrak and enjoy x100 the features and great gritty sound.
ОтветитьTo my knowledge it seems the SP 808 and A-6 (video version of 808) have the same type of smooth pitch effect but not the SP202 sample rate feature which still make this machine unique. Thanks for the vid as usual!
ОтветитьWow i didn't knew the 202 is so limited.
ОтветитьThis is the Definition of a sampler
ОтветитьBack * Gritty 202* been months since on it
