Toyota 4Runner Dash Cam Plug & Play Kit Install | 2003 - 2022 Toyota 4Runner

I've been looking for a camera solution for my 2008 4x4 Urban Runner. This just might be it!
I would like to see the rear camera option/addition as well though! Before making my decision.

One thing is I like how my current dash cam has a camera facing towards me in case I get accused of not wearing my seatbelt or something I can prove I was doing the right thing. Is it possible to get just the wiring harness but not the camera?

From what I can tell, the only reason you need to remove the overhead console is to hide connector right?

don't a lot of dashcams have compatibility with the rear view mirror power?

I used double sided tape to stick it to the that panel instead of using zip ties. It's been stuck on there for almost a year. Great install video, it is fairly easy to install.

Your 4runner has have auto dimming mirrors for it to be "plug and play "

With help from tech support (thanks Cliff!) I purchased just the power plugs/adapter and used it for a dash cam I already had. My camera uses 12 volts so I snipped the USB adapter PCB and connected my camera's power wires directly to the power plugs/adapter thingie carefully observing correct polarity. The video made the install look simple and it was. My dash cam install looks clean and is barely noticeable. Thanks Trail Grid Pro!

Note: if you have 2017 TRD PRO the harness is different than the one shown in this video. The plug is also directly into the lower back of the mirror where you will attach their harness.

I’m sorry if this is a stupid question but…. Can I just do this without taking apart the top part? Can I just take off the skinny plastic part that go to the mirror so I can just plug in the adapter?

What if i dont remove the overhead console would it still gonna work? The only purpose of that is to hide the wires right? Ima just take off the cover for the connector then connect the dongar and just zip tie it. I dont mind if it looks messy lol

This doesn't work on a 2019 4Runner Limited Nightshade. The wire funnel is much much smaller than the unit in this video.

This does not work on 4Runners with the 14 pin connector. My SR5 has auto dimming mirror and LCD screen but it is a 14 pin connector. Take apart your connector and count the pins before ordering.

I bought the product and installed my dashcam however it does not provide continuous power supply to the dashcam. So I am not able to turn on the parking surveillance. The video or at least the title is a little misguided

I just got one of these kits. I haven't installed it but it's so worth the money. Adapter and 2 different cables. I'm tired of my Cable hanging from my windshield to the cigarette lighter

Why can't you just hide the usb adapter under the overhead console? Having the usb cord coming down straight to the dash cam would look cleaner. I've seen a few install videos and everyone just zip ties it...

Looks like I'm a bit late to the party. But great video. Buying the adapter now, but I'm curious what that CB rail and phone mount are! I've been looking at various ways to do mine and am considering to go with a quad lock setup, but I really like my Otterbox cases.

Works great, however I am confused why you guys don't just stuff the adapter into the ceiling and put the plastic shroud back on. Mine looks stock with a single cable coming out of the ceiling into the dashcam.

When the dash cam powers up, does it start recording automatically to the SD card or do you have to press a Record button to begin recording? I would prefer to not use the app.
