guys i didn’t want to criticise the author…he explained quite good..but i pointed out some things which we can improve the performance of an ssis package…it can be help ful in interviews if someone asks how you can optimize the performance of an ssis package…
to delete data use truncate rather than delete command
use table or view fast load when using the oledb destination
avoid using asynchronous transformation like sort ..if you have an option then load the data from flat files like cab or txt to staging table and then use the order by clause in the query level itself and set the issorted property to true and set the sort key position to 1 ..by this we can avoid using the sort transformation…
try to make u r package dynamic because today we may receive 4 csv files but tomorrow if you receive 10
files this package will not work…we can use the foreachloop container and set the file path dynamic to the connection manager using the expressions…
there is a limit on the number of sources from where we can connect and load..by default 10 sources for data flow task…we can change this using the enginethreads property…

why can’t we use a single execute sql task and use the batch terminator and truncate the data in tables like
truncate table table1
go
truncate table table2
go
truncate table table3 etc
since all the tables reside in the same database…you have used delete statement to delete the data which is slow as compared to truncate since delete will perform row by row deletion that means it will delete one record at a time and will make an entry into the transaction log file for each deleted row and truncate will delete the data in batches…truncate will delete the data by deallocating the data pages in the table used to store the data …it will log only the deallocated pages to the transaction log file ..truncate is faster than delete command

we can’t execute the components in a data flow task and that option is available for only tasks in the control flow area…we can execute individual tasks in the control flow area

i really didn’t understand why u have not used the union all transformation to combine the data from more than 2 sources and also u don’t need to sort the data too..sort transformation is a fully blocking asynchronous transformation and performance wise very slow..you can go and use the union all transformation also..and the key point is it is completely static package …u can make the package more dynamic by using the for each loop container and pass dynamic connections to the connection manager
