Werewolf or Vampire in Skyrim's Survival Mode ??? (2022!)

I've honestly had a blast playing both on Survival mode, deciding to put a handicap on myself by forcing the Werewolf to eat corpses and the Vampire to feed on blood to sate their hunger. :)

You forgot to mention regular vampires get hated at level 4 and people kill you on sight

Ring of hircine 2x werewolf transformation a day ... plenty for survival mode

ok hold up one being vampire lord also gives you immunity to disease and second with the necromage perk in the restoration skill tree your enchants and self casted spells and some perks will be 25 percent better which if your any good at enchanting will make up for the lost stat points and weakness to fire and if you dont want a huge weakness or go into the later stages just get invisibility and feed bandits or homeless theres plenty of those throughout skyrim and if you get hircine's ring you can turn into a werewolf twice a day

i mean.. you can do a quest and get the ring of hercine and transform into a werewolf as many times as you want, so it outbeats vampire lord

I remember haveing good restoration healing that heals my health and stamina and haveing my weapon double inchant to take stamina and magica then that sunlight dont bother me.

Werewolves are definitely more fun to play as imo. With the main downside for me is being constantly asked if fur is coming out of my ears. (I never sleep anyway)

Honestly, I find that the Vampire Lord form feels like a bit of a step down from the normal Vampire; with the original version & Restoration's Necromage perk, you can get bonuses to all your gear to the point of near invincibility.

I'm a werewolf through and through and always try to build one. I like to think my characters bloodline is that of werewolves

My most enjoyable vampire build was joining the dawn guard early. Then I followed their quest until I got past the vampire test and picked up Serena a a follower again. Went to find her mother immediately and had Serena turn me into a vampire lord. After that I turned the dawn guard into my vampire clan. Alone with the different hold guards and jarls. Lol. Let the blood feat begin. Lol. It's much better using better vampires mod.

I feel like orc has been my favourite survival class.

A tri factor of buffs against the survival stats plus berserker rage which on high difficulty can be clutch af.

Of these 2 id go werewolf as the warrior type class is easier to utilise.

I chose option 3: Hybrid

My exploited werewolf build is the following:
Breton for magic resistance (or orc for temporary buff)
Level up in restoration and alteration for extra magic resistance, armor and avoid death.
Lord stone
Ring of hircine + ring of the hunt (multiple rings werewolf glitch).

It's certainly not perfect or the most OP in terms of damage especially since I don't often cast armor spells, but I find that doing this while also investing heavily in health and stamina (ideally both over 700, and health close to 1000) remedied most of the issues I had with the werewolf form (particularly the limitations regarding regeneration, number of transformations and fragility). It's not perfect, but it's the best I managed in vanilla skyrim.

I always thought it was stupid for survival mode to not give vampires cold and hunger resistance since they have a natural frost resistance, but survival mode was still a nice edition.

Something else I also noticed is that when I rest it didn't relive my restfulness and I couldn't get rid of my drained status. Is this a glitch or not? I'm playing on Switch btw

But the vampire lord also can float above water so you don’t have to swim and to or freeze to death faster in survival mode.

I hate vampirism in skyrim. Becoming a werewolf was the 3rd thing I did in survival mode. Get the thief guild outfit, get married, become werewolf, buy house, buy horse, actually play the game.

Good points, but I think I'll be a hy rid instead; getting best of both worlds.

feel like grinding for werewolf perks is easier since the npcs, & eventually animals, can be killed by any means then fed upon, whereas vampire lord is harder to grind perks for since the npcs have to die specifically by drain life spell and don't count if they end up dying by other means

I was hoping that by becoming a werewolf, you wouldn't be hindered by the need to sleep as much. So only the only pro I see in the werewolf is immunity to disease. Not sure if that's worth going through the Companion storyline in Survival especially knowing Kreev will be waiting and boy, has he whooped my ass plenty of times.

i will say if you need to be sleeping regularly anyway i dont see the sunlight as so big of a problem. just sleep in the day

You could get the ring of Hirecine which will make it so that you can transform into a werewolf anytime you want you just have to spare the person that Hirecine wants you to kill during the said Quest in falkreath talk to the guys near the graveyard to start quest if you kill him you only get his skin and the ring does not get uncursed sadly Hirecine is the only one who can uncurse that ring as he's the one who cursed it so if you don't complete that Quest correctly you will be limited to once a day transformations

Agreed! Besides, I tried fighting Ancano as a vampire (not Lord) in the eye of Magnus final fight and he uses flame spells. Got my butt kicked very badly, had to stock up a tonne of health potions

You forgot ring of hircine.

One can always abuse the necromage perk and be immune to all magic damage. Not only spells but elemental and poison traps some special attacks.
