Did you cut the legs of the coffee table?
ОтветитьAny recommendations for alternative floor chairs? The Muji chair isn’t available in the US :(
ОтветитьFrom where i can buy that table
Ответитьyour other vid on furniture free living transformed how i occupy the space at home now. i even got rid of the floor chairs, as i found myself moving less using them. i have i'll put the laptop on different things while sitting on the floor, or lay on the floor with the laptop on the floor. always changing. thank you!
ОтветитьBut doesn't the back have to be straight when sitting on the floor? Otherwise, it is much more dangerous to sit hunched on the floor than on the chair.
ОтветитьIm two years late but whats your table size? I need it so bad! or link to the same table
thanks:(
how to make or buy slip-covers for floor chairs so that they can be washed once a week?
ОтветитьHey,
are floor chairs bad for your back?
How did you adjust the height of the coffee table?
ОтветитьThe best part of “floor” or “ground” living is that it’s what are natural biology evolved for.
Sitting and lying on firm (but cushioned) surfaces is unforgiving of bad positioning. You don’t get to lie there with your neck too flexed for 45 minutes, you’re gonna know in 45 seconds that’s it not comfortable. So it forces you to find the right position for sleeping.
When sitting on a cushion on the floor again you’ll be figuring and adjusting every few minutes. This is what you’re supposed to do. Sitting motionless for hours is only enabled by hyper comfortable unnatural devices called modern furniture.
In the mobility community there’s a saying “the best position is the next position.” We’re supposed to move, not be still for hours on end. Floor living forces this principle because one position is simply not artificially made comfortable enough to stay on that long.
But you’re right it’s not about furniture free. That’s why I call it floor living. I am, ironically, a furniture maker. But most furniture is still applicable to floor living. You just cut the legs shorter and forget about modern chairs. Chairs are the hardest thing to make anyway so good riddance.
Luckily I have an eastern design aesthetic so making chabudais instead of dining tables appeals to my design style anyway. And they require less wood and less stress is on the legs because they are so short that you can get away with daintier designs that don’t have to support high leverage like 3 foot long legs have to deal with.
And one cool thing is that, as a tabletop gamer you don’t have to have a massive dining/gaming table for large gaming sessions / board games. You can just use the floor. I’m f course you could make an absolutely massive Japanese dining table if you wanted.
nooo the chair is no longer on amazon I don't think :( Do you know where else we can get a similar chair?
Ответитьthank you so much
ОтветитьWhere is the step stool from? Thanks!

ОтветитьHello, what is the model of the computer case?
Ответитьi'm planning on moving to a tiny house that has a loft with a low ceiling. With the main floor just big enough to accomodate living room area and dining area, my only space to fit my gaming setup is the loft. This is going to be perfect for it
ОтветитьI am faced with a decision, on the one hand, I would like to sit on the floor, because I see the benefits of it, on the other hand, I like to work standing up. Are there any desks that have a lifting range from 30 cm to 130?
Ответить👍
ОтветитьHaha, I was considering for some time a new chair for our home because I work from home much more than before and the ones we have are really not good for long sitting... The only problem was that I do not have space for one more chair...?!?
I never considered sitting on the floor, we are so blocked in our minds nowdays...whole Japan (and other cultures) was sitting on floor for centuries, it cannot be "that" bad, right? 🙃
This is really crazy, thank you for enlightenment, I am starting tomorrow😉💕
Oh, ok I found it :D Thanks!
ОтветитьMy floor gang setup is a coffee table and a couch cushion with a pillow folded in half to provide sit bone relief. The pillow also brings my elbows to just the right height which is a bonus considering it was really only something i did to prevent sit bone pain. Sit bone pain is the largest source of pain next to ankles in my experience with this lifestyle, lower back can sometimes be a burden to but its gotten better over the years because my muscles have got stronger. I have never had any back support like these two do (EDIT: I have no clue how but i forgot that i did used to have some back support actually. When i first got into this lifestyle it started out pretty simple, I took a couch cushion and placed it on the floor and used the couch as a back rest. Then i switched to the wall which worked nicely but i needed another cushion for my back. Most recently about a year or two ago I switched to no back support after re-arranging my setup. This was basically just me changing the Feng shui of the room cause i got bored of how things were arranged.) but if i did have one of those chairs it wouldn't be at the right height and im not in a position to saw my table legs shorter lol.. I'll also be honest i thought i was the only crazy person to live like this 🤣 I got into this lifestyle for lack of space reasons while somehow making it work and getting used to it. 🤷♂ It's crazy cause now im thinking.. lol i sat at a desk for most of my life and have been floor gang now for about 5 years.. the one thing I think would be better is back support for when you just wanna lay back for a second, i did say my back has got stronger but i can't lie being able to lean back every once in a while is nice. I think that's about it from my experience honestly I'm curious if i would enjoy going back to a normal desk at this point, i am moving in about a months time so it will probably be goodbye floor gang but we'll see.. 🥲
ОтветитьI am so glad I found your video! I was always want to try this way ! But can i ask will it add more burden to our kneecap if we moving up and down?
ОтветитьIn India, while I was studying we used to sit on floor untill 6th standard 🙂 I loved it. I am glad to be born in India 🇮🇳🕉️ and Indian culture tell all these things since ancient days.
I appreciate your videos and concepts bringing to the world. 👏👏👍👍.
In India temples and functions we still sit on floor and have food 🇮🇳🕉️🙂 and eat on banana leaf.
Wow, I have looked for such a video in such a long time. Awesome!!
ОтветитьWhere did you get those tables?
Ответитьwhatever you do, sitting is killing, escape sitting before it is late
ОтветитьWhere do you put your printer, scanner, label maker, calculator?
ОтветитьWatched and purchased the low desk, and after couple of months my back HURT SO BAD everytime I sit into the desk. Please reconsider!!
ОтветитьExcellent video. Thanks from Melbourne 👍
Ответитьits super nice you found a partner who shares the same values and taste in aesthetics
ОтветитьHi! I was wondering how did you guys shorten the legs? Did you do it yourself? Or did you engage in a carpenter to do it? My fiancé and I are interested in getting the same tables but we have zero carpentry skills
ОтветитьDo you have other floor chair recommendations? It seems the chairs you have in video are no longer on the website. Thanks you.
ОтветитьHeyy, love this! Care sharing where you got the table and the floor chairs from? Thanks!
ОтветитьLove this but my thighs are too thick for this
ОтветитьSit on a single sofa with the legs folded in such a way that the feet of one leg touches the other. Its the best posture in the world. I sit like that and my digest system can digest anything, plus i poop 11 times a day.
ОтветитьAwesome! I have a question though, do your necks/trapezius muscle get tight since you do not have arm rests while sitting on the floor and working on your desk? Was thinking about getting a floor setup but I am hesitant due to this.
ОтветитьIt is always uncomfortable for me when I sit on the floor and work like that.
ОтветитьWould you mind to tell us, how high the table becomes?
ОтветитьFloor Gang 👊
Ответитьif you already have a standing desk and a task chair. you're on the right track. i suggest a saddle chair or perch/wobble chair that adjusts its height so that you're in a half sit/stand position. finally, get a walking treadmill or stationary bike for your desk. i don't have a task chair but i do have a walking treadmill and an ikea nilserik, a folding chair and a yoga ball for variety. all of which i can plop on top of the walking treadmill that's permanently centered on my standing desk. im in the process of replacing the ikea nilserik with a saddle chair because i believe a saddle seat is superior to the ikea nilseriks seat style.
ОтветитьLove your drawings
ОтветитьNot always sitting on floor is good for health.
Depends on person.
Some might get knee and back issue because of this.
More most number of people sitting on ergonomic chair is better for their health.
Especially if you spend more time.
I got knee problems too because of sitting on floor for long duration.
Hey, can i ask what reminder app you are using?🙂
Ответитьi need a wife now
