Have any of you ever tried to take anything of this magnitude on? How did it turn out? What did you end up making? I would LOVE to see what you all have created feel free to connect with me on any on of the platforms we are on you can find links in the description box <3
ОтветитьDo you have a follow up video for this? I couldn’t find it. I’d like to see the rest of your process
ОтветитьHow long does this process take? I know you said 3-4 days I just butchered a cow of ours and want to keep the cowhide I’ve been taking notes from your video but I was wondering how long and how many times do we re salt?
ОтветитьI use a fleshing knife and beam.
ОтветитьSalam supo
ОтветитьTrodision internosiNal 👍🌹🌹🌹🌹
ОтветитьHow to preserve fur without chems??? Is there any other way to tane with planst and to save fur?
ОтветитьA quick tip that I learned on my chest freezer travels. I don't think there is a freezer in the world that could freeze a chest freezer full of raw hides or meat. You need to put them in layers about 7" max thick. Wait for the layer to freeze, then add another layer of hides/meat about 7 inches thick and wait for that to freeze before adding another. Keep doing that procees until the freezer is full. I hope this helps in your future endeavours, I learned it from a guy who has a poultry business and this is what he does with his chickens.
ОтветитьWhat did you guys end up doing to your hides. Currently doing 2 hair on that I just got salted. One is stretched gonna try and make a rug out of it. The other gonna preserve it. Don’t really know what I’m doing just did some Google searches and saw a bunch of different ways to do a hide. So went with one and hoping it works!
ОтветитьI commend you for trying this monumental project, but don't [from now on] wash off salt after putting it on you'll only have to repeat some steps .Salt doesn't ''cure '' a skin it only dries it for later working through the tanning process. Let everyone know the end results . I did a home tan on a buffalo 1 hide and used a sander to thin the hide before it went into the pickling bath .When completely dry you can sand a hide paper thin makes breaking it go so much easier and you'll end up with a softer skin
ОтветитьI'm starting a cowhide tonight. Salting and stacking would work too. Going to rehydrate the hide and then start tanning to make a rug.
ОтветитьI want to come and help/learn at the next big hide drop off, looks like quite the involved project
ОтветитьCould you just leave the skulls on an ants nest and let the ants do the work?
ОтветитьThump up for the great work, share with us your project steps process to follow
ОтветитьWhat do you do next?
ОтветитьWhy did you not flesh them completely????? Ahhhh can't watch you ruin these perfect hides
ОтветитьPressure washer speeds things up greatly. Not how the indians did it of course.
ОтветитьAfter the hides are salt dried? How did you store them?
ОтветитьSo if the hides are salted will they keep from stinking once they are dried with the hair still on.
ОтветитьYou are killing an innocent animal . Use use her and then kill her . She is meant as godess in hindu religion and you are killing her shame on you .
ОтветитьYou are quite the woman!
ОтветитьYa'll should watch a video on hide fleshing and tanning. Would've saved you a ton of work. You could've rolled them up and thrown them in a freezer and accomplished the same thing. Salting is only saving them for later and they get pretty nasty. I'm not trying to be a troll but this is not how it's done. Flesh them fresh on a beam or like a moosehide. Soak them in lye or ash water , flesh the fur side and remove grain , reflesh the flesh side , stretch. You now have rawhide that's ready to tan , store indefinately , or use as raw-hide. You'll have 3-5 hours in each hide but you still have to do all that anyway.
ОтветитьIs their a second part? I’m getting ready to go out an pursuer wash my cow hid an start salting it.
ОтветитьDigging those DCUs. I have a few sets of those from the wars. Were you or hubs in the military? Good info on the salting. Looks like a lot of work.
ОтветитьThe ground has now been salted.
ОтветитьThis is something I wanna do... 😁👍 ty for sharing !
Ответитьamazing worker lady,,, amazing woman,,, so beautiful.... I wish to have a wife like you,,,,
ОтветитьI’m going to try this for the first time this year but probably just ONE! I enjoyed the process and am looking forward to seeing what you do with them next!
ОтветитьA fleshing beam would work well. Or just a stripped log. And a fleshing knife. It makes the process much faster.
ОтветитьIs there anymore videos with the hides?
ОтветитьFucking hipsters
ОтветитьVery cool! I would love to do this when we butcher
ОтветитьHoly canoli that looks like REAL hard work! Good job, friend!
ОтветитьLooking at this... wondering if it would be possible to use a pressure washer to remove the flesh?
ОтветитьLove seeing this done. Great brainpower and use of the entire animal!
