6 minutes 42 seconds worth of great musicianship at 66% faster than their normal bpm to fit their 4 minute time slot . . . Brilliant!

I know this is a very old video but I'm gonna comment anyway. If you listen to the studio version of this song, you'll notice the live version they play way faster. It's insane.

However, this song does not represent the usual Focus' work. They're much more serious than this

These guys were talented as hell, and when you mix that with some really good cocaine, you get some fast great music. Lol

Who is better than, Focus,Yes,Genesis,Led Zeppelin,The Who,Gentle Giant, etc Who plays guitar better than Jimmy Page? Today, few people knows Music. There are effects, dancers, simple chord progressions, easy and idiot lyrics ... A matter of talent and study very hard.

They played the late night Old Grey Whistle Test in UK. The next day me and all my Prog rock mates at school didn't talk about anything else.
There was a story that their record company had to set aside one plant to churn out nothing but this album, Moving Waves

Focus received a standing ovation from the Midnight Special crowd that night. Very rare. Focus was a band comprised of first-class musicians.

Just saw this. Do not know if anyone posted that this was a TV performance and the band was told they only had a certain amount of time to play this song so they sped up to fit the time slot.

The Midnight Special channel recently released a better quality video straight from the source tape, which includes a piece missing here where he yodels for an extended period of time until he's completely out of breath.

Definitely worth checking out, a long with all of the other treasures they've been releasing.

An older review, I know, but THIS is one song/ group that turned me on to program rock. Super tight musicianship coupled with a total breakthrough of experimental vocal performance. Happy you appreciate this tune! And on the subject.... don't know if you've checked out " Child in Time" by Deep Purple. NOT your everyday classic rock song!

It’s kinda of funny that this girls parents may not have even been born when this version first aired on TV. You don’t realize the change in music and culture that was taking place across the West during this time. Tremendous bands and techniques were being created by unknown but future greats that are still copied and idolized to this day. Rolling Stones to WHO to Black Sabbath to Ronnie James Dio to Iron Maiden to Judas Priest to Motley Crue to KISS. Fantastic time to be alive.

Singer/keyboardist Thijs Van Leer was amazing. All the members of the band including guitarist Jan Akkerman were so underrated. Akkerman's solos were out of this world.

I love seeing a professional voice coach trying to break down what Thijs did back when Focus was on top of the world...there are no words to describe how good he was at what he did (along with everyone else in that incredible band).

Not only the vocal coaches, no, everyone who hears that piece talks about the singer only. While in the intro and in between there is this absolutely crazy guitar playing by Jan Akkermann. Take to the original and listen to that!

Grew up in the early 70's and this was a very popular Rock instrumental along with many others. However, this was definitely one of the most unique:) (had to add...I bought the album:;) Loved your facial reactions to Thijs van Leer's vocals. I felt the same way when I first heard it on the radio so many year ago. I also agree, they were all very good at what they did:) This is what I love about YT, you can stroll down memory and still get some new insights on it! Cheers, wish you well on your future endeavors...
