I simply can't use the paddles on the Scuf. Ice tried and tried and tried to get used to them, but I just can't.

If I could have the Scuf thunbsticks with the Elite paddles I'd be set. There's just something so nice about the Scuf sticks.

I feel like people are too easily accepting to battery pacts.... especially built in, non-removable batterys. That means when the internal battery goes out so does that whole controller. No thanks, instead of a new $200 controller every couple years I'll just buy $20 worth the rechargeable AA batteries every couple years.

I have been through 5 elite series 2 controllers and all of them the same issue, the A and B buttons responsiveness giving out if not responding right out of the box. Thank the gaming gods that they were all under warranty though I have to bash on Gamestop making me pay for a new warranty every time I had to replace it outside of the 2 that weren't responding right out of the box. Currently awaiting the Scuf Instinct Pro so I can give it a go. I really hope it gives me a better experience.

Elite all day every day. I've bought 2 scuf and they both broke within 6 months. The first scuf went bad with crazy uncontrollable stick drift, the second wouldn't retain the button mapping (had to reset my buttons everytime I turned the controller back on).

sorry but the fact you can use regular batteries is a major selling point. ive actually had to replace my ps5 controllers after just 1 year because the internal battery failed, and my elite series 2 lasted only 9 months, again because of the crappy battery.

Surprised you did not even talk about the analogs or the d pad which are the biggest major differences between the two controllers especially for competitive gaming. The analogs for the elite controller are heavy and slow to snap back. They will tire out your thumbs over long play periods 4 - 6 hours or more. I have even got some bad cramps that last a week and felt like mild arthritis and I always had the tension on the lowest. If you need full control over the analog and make precision movements and fast jerks, it's a heavy slog. You have to put more pressure on the elite controller than you do on other plastic analogs like PS5, PS4 or Xbox Wireless.

In competitive fighting games you will be using the d pad. The dpads on the elite are the opposite of what you want for a fighting game. They are rigid, and uncomfortable. The classic d pad is serviceable however but you will find it unforgiving after doing your 500th DP motion. It is simply incomparable in the comfort and precision you will get doing the quarter circle motions on the X Box wireless hybrid dpad. If the SCUF's hybrid is anything like the Xbox Wireless (Series X/S) then it is supremely better than a solid metal dpad and exceeds the PS5 dual sense although after some breaking in the DS4 is quite a decent dpad for such games.

This review is missing some very important key discussion points I suggest you add to it because it could use a more technical analyses.

The biggest issue with the elite is quality - I've had four and all had issues after just a few months. That's like 800 plus bucks wasted. DO NOT BUY THE ELITE ITS A WASTE

Ordered the scuf instinct pro. within 3 days had .8N stick drift on the right stick. returning it was a serious hassle. Like the feel of the controller but stick drift after 3 days is not worth a $200 controller..

I tried to elite 2 and it was horrible! The stock xbox controller for the x and s versions are way better. I have not yet tried the scuf but i can be confident in saying it is way better than the elite 1 or 2. The elite was so bad with the joystick response. It basiclly turned me into a noob with awful accuracy. Switch back to regular and i was back to normal for me.

Until Microsoft decides to use hall effect based sticks, instead those cheap potentiometer joysticks. They will always be trash, and no more than a paper weigh every 3 months. 😂😂 They want people to buy 4 controllers a year. I pray everyday for a " Planned Obsolescence" class action settlement.😂😂

I've had 3 elites over probably the last 3 years. All of them broke, RB normally. Customer service is decent though if in warranty but the repairs come back and eventually break again. I play a decent amount of destiny so it gets some action when swords are the thing. So will probably try the scuff now, although is very expensive compared to the elite and even the new PS5 controller

I have the elite and I get the feeling I'm performing better with the regular Xbox Series X controller. It feels off to me. Now I hear you say you also experience the feeling of lag. Very interesting. I thought I sucked because of playing with MKB on PC for a while. But I switched whole my life between PC and console and never experienced this feeling before. Maybe I should try the Scuf, but they are so expensive.

I have an elite series 2. I’ve had the controller for about 8 months. I noticed straight out the box that the A button sometimes does not register. I’m also now experiencing my RB is hardly registering. I have to press it really hard and in a specific spot on the button to get it to function correctly. Another issue I’ve had is random connection drops. It’ll be randomly in the middle of a game my controller will stop working, but it still says it’s on so I have to reconnect it by holding the pairing button. With all these issues, and not to mention how difficult it is to get a hold of Microsoft since it’s still within warranty. I just bought a scuff controller. I pray that it is better.

The scuff is a massive let down, for the price they could of actually used a elite to upgrade, scuff is a normal controller jacked up, most headset adapters won't fit due to them non adaptable buttons under the controller, you been battery's, not Built in like the elite, the scuff feels light weight and cheep, very plastic, I would 100% get the scuff if it was a elite upgrade, but it's not, over priced for what it is

My Elite 2 is basically useless after little over a year with moderate use, not abuse never thrown.
A button double presses all the time, B sticks, and right bumper requires tons of force to register an input.
Id say maybe it was a one off dud, but so many others have similar issues with ELITE 1 and ELITE 2, i was a chump who figured they would have fixed all the problems with 2 but nope.

Listen closely people- once upon a time Microsoft used high quality potentiometers in their thumbsticks making them nearly bulletproof. Those days are gone. Even their top of the line controllers use bargain bin electronics exactly in the places where it matters most. The thumbsticks will crap out on you, most likely sooner rather than later. Don't support companies that sell garbage at your expense. Quality won't improve until we stop making their crap profitable for them to sell.
