Wildfires are a natural part of the earth’s cycle. Burning off the vegetation covering the forest floor allows for seeds to reach the soil beneath and in turn will result in an even more spectacular growth in the future. Sure it takes time for all of this to occur and regrow to the size it once was, but nature has no regard for time. Our planet has existed for quite a while and a few decades are mere minutes in the grand scheme. It’s hard for us humans to see this as time feels much different in our eyes and minds as we only inhabit this planet for a mere fraction of our earth’s life. Nature does what nature needs, we simply exist here while it happens. This is simply an example of Mother Nature at work.

If they would bring back selective logging we could prevent a lot of the really big fires.

For the pass 60 years everyone has seen the Smokey Bear commercial , only you can prevent Forrest Fires ,
Well , you west coast idiots , why haven't you gotten a fleet of Air Tankers ready to fly at a moment's notice ?
It could put these fires out in a matter of hours or even minutes , before the fire ever could start to spread , as soon as the fire is spotted 30 to 50 Air Tankers take to the sky and extinguish the fire immediately , but NO ,
Instead of spending money on Air Tankers , millions of dollars are spent on TV commercials , for 60 years man has complained about fires but never acted on it ,
Just send in ground crews to get burnt or killed , and then give their families a brass plaque with the Dead ground crew members name on it ,
I have no pity for stupidity !

As the cost of wildfires, water shortages and crop failures increase perhaps this idea will have a following: Every year the Missouri and Mississippi rivers flood hundreds of cities and farms across the Midwest. Why not build large pipelines to pump that floodwater to the drought prone Southwest? That's not considering the cost of the flood damage.

These fires will not be contained or controlled. These fires are meant to do exactly what they're doing. You have no power here. Not this time. Hallelujah.

Surely allowing smaller controlled fires to burn the fuel on the ground would be a better option, rather than letting it accumulate

The largest wildfires were in Democrat-led cities last year.

Get a few people ripping around on dirt bikes you can make some long dirt patches

He could be putting out the fire instead hes just adding dirt... seems useless

We need better forest management. This is all avoidable and constant reactionary firefighting won't solve the problem.
