I think this is why my Tascam 16x8 is less noisy than my Tascam 2x2(it doesn’t have the switch and I’m assuming it’s on -10). Thanks so much.

Hello. Please could you tell me why with my RME - Babyface Pro audio interface using the TotalMix FX software, if I set -10 dBV my guitar input sounds louder than +4 dBu? Thank you in advance.

I've just bought JBL lsr305 monitors. -10 is the default level on the monitors.
I've connected it directly to sound blaster Z internal sound card with a trs 3.5 to 2 1/4 cable.
I just can't figure out which of the options on the monitor is the correct one.
the -10 sounds super punchy and loud and the +4 sounds more natural I think.
Is there a way to be sure which is the correct setting?

What happens if I connect a guitar or a bass directly into a pedal that was made and designed for vocals?
For example, there is a device called Boss VE-2 which. It is a mic effect processor and also an audio interface.
Because of the audio interface function that device has, I want to use it to connect a bass through the XLR input (prepared for micrphones).
It is important to say that it has a knob that changes the gain. In essence, the mic preamp.
I now know that the instrument level is a little bit higher that the mic level but, what if I turn the mic preamp down?
Will my idea work?
Will it be okay to connect a bass into the Boss VE-2 mic effect processor into the XLR input?
(All this using a TS to XLR cable)

I have a Mac Mini with line level in, but it doesn't state if the 1/8 input is -10 or +4....would you happen to know?

I have an Emotiva PT-100. My JBL LSR305s have a switch for -10dBV or +4dBu. the only specs I can find for the Emotiva is 4 VRMS. I don't know which switch to use and would love some advice.

Hi there, I own a Schecter guitar with HIGH output (I would call it that in lag of better words), and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. The audio interface has a "production disease" which causes the line in ch. to peak red even if the level knob is close to untouched. Therefore I bought a DI box to tame my guitar output signal, and it worked very well (actually Focusrite themselves suggested that admitting the 2i2 sucked), so I did that. Anyway, the input signal is still close to "yellow" (should be more green-like) in my DAW (Reaper), and close to clipping. Is there any way in Reaper to adjust the input signal/recording signal to those -4 or 10 db. You talk about. Maybe accomplished with software on the track input fx chain? Kind regards Kraftonia (mind my english, I'm danish)
