Liston beat Patterson like a drum but fell to Cassius Clay like he forgot how to fight. Those two fights were fixed.

Seeing Liston do this to Patterson makes me think he would've slaughtered Tyson if they both fought each other in their primes.

I hate to put down Patterson, but this was the equivalent of a little boy fighting a grown man. The little boy might be younger and faster, but the grown man just needs one power shot to end the whole thing

Most human beings, your reach is within 3" of your height. If 6 feet tall (72 inches), reach will be 69 to 75 inches for most people. Pattersons reach was 1 inch less than his height. That's on the low side and not ideal for boxing. Liston's reach was a staggering 11 inches longer than his height. That's crazy. Definitely an advantage he had over Patterson, and would have had over Marciano, whose reach was about 3 inches less than his height.

God bless you Sonny Liston! People judged you when they had no right do so. Its called contempt prior to investigation. Let the first among all you judgmental people in the world to cast first stone!

I believe there may have been plans for a third Liston v Patterson bout just before Sonny's death? I bet on Patterson to regain his title for the second time in 63 but it was all over in 2 mins and 18 seconds.

Liston è stato uno dei più grandi. Forse il più grande se la Mafia non ci fosse stata di mezzo. Alì nelle prime 4 riprese se l'è vista brutta. Ma la Mafia aveva stabilito che alla settima doveva ritirarsi. Infatti alla 6 ripresa aveva rinunciato ad attaccare. Cosa strana per Sonny che era abituato a braccare gli avversari. Da questo si intuisce che era prigioniero della Mafia.
Io dopo aver visionato i suoi incontri ho concluso che Clay non avrebbe avuto scampo nel primo match se Liston era libero di combattere. Questo non toglie nulla al valore di Alì.
