Dude, after having a scissor jack totally fail and the axel crash to the ground, I wouldn't recommend putting your feet under the tire...especially when it's not bolted on. It's one thing to have a tire fall on your feet. Another to have the axle crash down if that scissor jack were to fail.
ОтветитьU r a genius. Now I don't have to put the car on 4 jackstands at once.
ОтветитьWhen criss-cross the rear tires, you are supposed to remove the tire and mount in reverse left & right to make sure both the inside and outside trend of the tires are used and worn evenly.
Ответитьyeah, tire shops will probably put your tire torque at about 300 lbs
ОтветитьUse a floor jack. Takes about 50% of time off this method.
Those scissor jacks that they put in the trunk are for emergency use. They really aren't suited for what you are doing, although it works obviously.
It's funny reading the comments how many people don't realize you can use a spare to rotate tires. Thought it was obvious.
You must use a torque wrench to spec for safety reasons. Also, check the torque again after you drive the car the first time after you do this. You'd be surprised to see how some of those lugs can come loose. Blue Loctite is also a good idea.
Nice video.
good thing kia gives nothing for this lol.
ОтветитьNice clear video, thanks!
ОтветитьNice clear video
ОтветитьNEVER! put your feet ir any part of your body under a tire on a jacked up vehicle. Jacks can and do fail.
ОтветитьThis is near impossible to do when you dont have a spare lmao
ОтветитьBrilliant man ty
Ответитьlol I never thought about using a spare...this seems WAY safer than having my SUV on all four jacks. Thanks man!
ОтветитьBuy yourself a couple of jack stands and a four way lug wrench and save yourself a lot of extra work and time. This method is labor intensive and time consuming but it will work.
ОтветитьSuper helpful, thanks for posting.
ОтветитьI dont trust scissor jacks had one of those fail before. A pump jack is my go to every time.
ОтветитьWhy didn't I think of this? Thanks Joshua!!!
ОтветитьVery good. That said, glad I can just take my vehicles to Discount Tire/(America's Tire) and get for free. And, they do it whether tire purchased there, or not.
ОтветитьThank you for your SAFER method!! When doing the rotation AGAIN, do we keep the same concept with starting with the rear driver's side?
ОтветитьYou are a legend, thank you 🔥🔥
ОтветитьMy 2021 Jeep Cherokee has a air pump and mopar branded fix a flat instead of a spare.
ОтветитьYou are the man
ОтветитьI did the exact same thing in about 2007. Way too much work. Take car to where you bought tires and I bet they do it for FREE, Or Discount Tire will do it for free no questions asked.
ОтветитьIt’s just front to back with todays tires
No cross switching.
Thanks for the video Toby Maguire
ОтветитьGood call, thanks for the great video!! For awd vehicle, is the pattern gonna be left front to left rear and left rear to left front? Also, do I need to torque the spare tire to make it safe? Or hand tighten will be good enough?
ОтветитьI used four jack stands to rotate my tires yesterday, but I like just having one wheel off the ground at a time as you demonstrated. It seems much safer. Thanks!
ОтветитьI used four jack stands yesterday to rotate my tires, but I like this way better just having one wheel off of the ground at a time. It is much safer! Thanks!!
ОтветитьI've been scratching my head about tire rotation lately. I drive a Miata, not crazy, but I do play with it (within reason). I've rotated tires religiously my whole life. However due to "life happenings" I've neglected rotating for two years. I've also NOT seen my tires wearing much quicker than when I DID rotate them. I've always been told (and believed) that rotating tires nearly doubled their life, I'm don't think I believe that anymore. This is my third year on my current set and at the rate they are wearing I'll be starting to need a new set around tax time. That's absolutely par for the course with my Miata, averaging about 3.5 years per tire set.
My level of driving aggression hasn't altered, and I've actually been driving FAR more to stay out of the house (daughter and her 3 howling 2- to 5-year-olds crashed back in on the wife and I a couple years back). If rotating doesn't really make THAT big a difference in wear, at least on a light car like the Miata, I'll just forgo the rotations and run a staggered wheel/tire setup for the more aggressive look.
Great video...totally forgot to use the spare tire!! Much appreciated
ОтветитьThat's a lot of extra work when you can just get a $10 set of jack stands from Harbor Freight
Ответитьthanks it makes sense and the process is clearly explained. Good tips on tightening lug nuts too.
ОтветитьGreat video, I’m going to perform the same thing Come time tomorrow.
Ответить🙏👏👏👏 GREAT JOB!
ОтветитьIts alot easier but unfortunately theyre making new cars with no spares now lol. You blow a tire, you call AAA I guess. Pretty dumb.
Ответитьyou saved yourself $30
ОтветитьAnd garages never torque them. They crank on them till then dont turn. Thats bad for smaller cars.
ОтветитьThat will save me $40. Great idea. My tires go straight back and straight forward. No criss cross. It says it in the manual. Tire shop made a mistake and criss cross ed them the way you said. That was a noisy mistake. They really vibrated.
All that hand jacking. You could use a power drill with a hook. Depending on how the end hooks up.
This is a great idea. Wow.
BRILLIANT! Simplified and illustrious description; simply AWESOME 👍
ОтветитьWhen you let the shop do the tire rotation, you don't know if & how they do it. Was curious how to do it at home as I don't have jack stands lying around. This, my friend, is the best YT video on tire rotation, using the spare tire is genius.
ОтветитьWhy isn’t this more viral thank you man I actually never thought of this method honestly 😅
ОтветитьThanks dawg I was racking my brain trying to think of the solution and it was staring me in the face, 🤙🏾
ОтветитьGander flight about to rotate...regulaters rotate 😂
ОтветитьGreat simple idea
ОтветитьWooooooow🤯 I'm slow and now can rotate my tires
Ответитьdon't have a spare
ОтветитьThanks, this is a great method!
ОтветитьTo prevent the wheels from spinning just engage the emergency brake. Nice video.
ОтветитьAwesome video sir, I have been doing tire rotation the long hard way for decades. Thank you for sharing knowledge!
